I own a 2T 1997 Bajaj Chetak. It's been raining here for a while and inspite of having parked my scoot in the garage it never starts in 1st five kicks. It has a new carb as well as new ignition coil and spark plug doesnt show any sign of fouling.Could it be an electrical problem as I am still using the original stator plate as well as the flywheel magneto. Moreover off recent I can hear sound similar to a camera clicking continously(click, click, click, click). It is always there when I ride my scoot and doesn't seem to go.

Take a look at:

1. The big bolt holding in your exhaust. Has it walked itself out? I had that more than once, and when it starts rubbing against the back tire it goes click click click.

2. The main bearing behind the rear wheel hub. Has it lost its seal and run dry? Is the gearbox out of oil? I remember hearing click click click click for a couple days before that bearing broke into smithereens.

EDIT: if the clicking is always there when the engine is running, not just when you're rolling, take a look behind the flywheel. I also once had click click click click when the base plate on a stator cracked and the flywheel started rubbing against one of the coils.

I checked the bolts on the exhaust and they are in their place. Moreover there isn't oil seal failure as rear wheel is free of any dirt(pic attached).
I moved the scoot without running the engine and it was quiet. However on starting it produces that sound again. If the base plate on stator is cracked(will try to get it checked by my mechanic) does it need attention right away?
