Hello all!

I have a 2007 GTS 250ie and a bit of a problem...

The digital display's odometer and trip meter have various segments that are out. Nothing seems consistant. For example, at one point digits will be missing segments and at other times not. What might be a 5 will have some segments missing and at other mileage points, not.

When I first start the scoot ALL the segments display as 888888-just what I would expect.

All other display features like fuel gauge, tach, temp, clock are just fine.

I had just bought this a month ago and really didn't notice it at the time. The PO hardly ever rode it and it had developed a voltage regulator issue which I have had fixed.

Could having the ECU reflashed fix this? I really hesitate buying a new instrument cluster / speedo for this problem. But it would be nice to be able to use the odometer on long trips.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

I'm not sure an ECU reflash would remedy the problem. LCD displays can start to fail and with a previous VR issue, it's possible some damage may have resulted.

I'd recommend dismantling the headset and check that all of your connections are secure. Additionally, inspect the circuit boards for cracks - you might have some broken connections that need a bit of solder.

I'm with CC on this and be careful when you pull off the headset. It's held on with 2 cheap ass tabs and they break VERY easily. I would check the bulbs to make sure their tight and not loose. Bad roads can cause them to loosen up. Their cheap so you also might want to get some new ones and just replace them but it does sound like things have loosened up in there. Good luck and tell us what you find if you can.
