How dare you mention a new bike without showing its picture. Tsk, tsk...
![]() So how does it ride compared to the Vespa? |

G the Buddy's are a really good bike. My friends 125 can keep up with the LX. I don't like the looks of them or how they ride but their a good bike. Way faster than my Vino 125 as well.

Picture up load challenged here. But now that I have been shamed I'll have to learn.
Color: matte green, cool, the manual says no wax, just soap and water. Size: bigger than the LX. Riding two up is way better. The wifey is 5'9" and I am 6'0" when we both got on for the first time, I wasn't crowded to the front. I didn't have to sit on horn like on the LX. The placement of the passengers feet are much better on the Hooligan. As far as riding solo floorboard is flat and huge. You can also put your feet up on the cowl area just above the floor. the Hooligan also comes with a net and hooks on the side of the floor. Tires: 12" front and rear, wider than the LX's 11" front and wider than 10" rear. Engine: 150 carb vs 170 FI. My LX always ran flawless, always started in any temp. The Hooligan FI runs well when warmed up a little. The hand full of cc difference is buried in the mid range. I haven't seen it on the top end, yet. I think the added torque will help hold speed on hills just fine and better than the LX. My feeling that the EPA requires this to be leaned out to the max. It's going to take some sorting out to see if there is a little extra top end in there. Handling: it's quite good, the wheel base is little longer than the LX. I have the rear dual shocks set on the softest setting and it is stiff. Think stiff like sports suspension not crude. This handles uneven pavement well ( don't know what the travel is). Sound: I love the way this sounds with the stock system. When I am riding I like to turn my head and catch a little different tone. Much more satisfying than the LX. Looks: this is a bigger machine and that is welcome, it doesn't look like a maxi or ride like a maxi. Yes it is plastic. Many compare it to a Zuma and I think that is unfortunate. My son has one its littler and slower. I think they are lumped together because they in some way are hitting the same market. That off road, "SUV" thing, rugged vs road cruiser, smooth, touring yet touching points in many of these areas. Lighting: not ridden at night yet. Turn signals are led as well as the taillight, also it has 4 way flashers. Turn signals are audible and have a nice cancel feature. Seat: more comfortable than LX, countour just right, seat covering material reminds me of Piaggio Fly quality and feel. And I think highly of the Fly I have only rode about 60 miles since I brought it home on Saturday and registered and plated it Monday. Love the dash board info, but miss the clock. The design of the dash deceives much criticism the gauges could fill up the space more by being bigger with a smaller border around the gauges. It's really the only thing that looks cheesy. Pet carrier: Somewhat bigger and big surprise it's somewhat cooler in there. There is no warning about keeping ones pet(s) in there so it must have passed the test. More later |

Camper, thanks for the mini-review. It has a rugged look, for sure, though it may not be everyone's cup of scooter. From your review it sounds like a good ride.

I've had my Genuine Buddy since the spring of '09 I've got nothing but good to say about it.
The Hooligan 170 is, in my mind, one of the best looking new model scooters in a while. I'd say, great choice. Ride happy Ride safe |

CAMPER my Vino's pet carrier is cooler also. I think the metal mono body keeps the heat in on our Vespa's. I'll put my phone under the seat on rainy days but never on the vespa. Gets way to hot.

You do realize this now means you must shave your head, get a few tattoos, follow a British football team (preferably West Ham United) and drink copious amounts of beer?
