Hello

I was curious about what people bought first (excluding riding gear) after getting their 300GTS SS. Is there anything people add on commonly? Seat change? Mirrors? Exhaust? Tires?

Just wanted to tap the community for ideas to see what people have done That way I can learn the easy way! Laughing emoticon

All answers welcome and thanks in advance!

Hi. My choice was a small cuppini flyscreen and a rear rack. Reasons are i use the scooter for work so i need the flyscren to offer more protection from the elements and to increase top speed and the rear rack for my work bag.

My first "mod" was a smoked flyscreen, then I added a new bar ends with a bar end mirror, then I upgraded exhaust to Akrapovic Black, then I changed the rear grab bar for a rear rack, then I smoked all of my clear lens to tinted & replaced all of the plastic bits with Zelioni Aluminum parts & replaced stock tires with Heidenau K58 & last but not least upgraded my stock seat with the vespa gel solo seat. It has been a work in progress but I am very happy with it.

Looks awesome! I watched some vids and that exhaust sounds good!

Ugh, where to even start....

My first thing was a Fly screen, and a seat cover. From there the list got long. I will highlight things I suggest to anyone.

Fly Screen
Seat Cover This is a cheap way to customize your bike and deal with hot seat
Black Legshield Trim
Powder Coated Mirrors

Air Horn Trumpet horn
Euro Blinker Kit with running lights in front.
Red rear blinkers that also act as running lights
Joe Florida LED Underglow Kit - HUGE plus for nighttime visibility

Jettin Bar Ends "makes life awesome for strapping bike down"
Jettin Dip Stick
Jettin Headlight Visor

Malossi Shocks
MP3 Rims powder coated red
Continental Twist White Walls

Akra Exhaust
Mike's Air Filter Mod
Dr. Pulley Sliders
These are cheap mods that make a BIG difference

Classic Rack rear rack
Vespa Crash Bars
Vespa Front Rack
Vespa Rear Rack

Things go on and off the bike at different times. I put the full racks and crash bars on when I do long rides out of town for camping. Sleeker look for in town cruises.

Hey Sector, I have the Jettin Bar Ends as well, what mirror did you find that fits to the gap? I tried a pair from Amazon but they were too small to fit.

2006 GTS and pretty much every other scoot I've own first purchases were windshield and top case.

On the GTS added Classic Rack's floor rack and front rack and eventually rear crash guards, Admore light kit for top case and Scooterwest conversion of front turn signals to running lights plus turn signals.

I got the CRG Hindsight LS mirror. It fits but you can only get in one (1) bolt in the bracket. Works Great!

FACO adjustable screen and topbox for starters.

Front rack and taillight modulator a bit later. Tall screen courtesy of another MVer.

Few tweaks coming, but I'm happy enough. 8)

some kiwi decals to advertise NZ and be proud
a St Christophers keyring made in Italy (Is the Pope Catholic?)
a helmet hanger to make scooting easier
a termoscud blanket to stay warm in winter

I like the minimalist look of just a carrier and a fly screen. Looking cool is essential but it has to be understated.

My heart wants better aftermarket shocks as that is the only let-down on the bike. I can live with the stock jobs for the time-being though. I hope Ohlins comes to the vespa party as they know how to roll.
Go the Blacks!!

Some dogleg brake levers. Don't know how the new 300's (what year is it) shocks are but throwing some Malossi shocks on it is the first thing i did (on my LX). Put some shortie mirrors that come with the Vietnam Vespa's. Look just like the ones that come stock on ours but shorter. Got any pics of your scooter? We love pics

My best mod for me was to buy the OEM Piaggio mirrors w/shorter stems. Other than that I removed the rear luggage rack. I spend my money on good synthetic oil and premium fuel. Someday I may buy a factory (black) gel seat. Mine came with a tan color seat, I am not that fond of. You have a good looking scoot though.

I already had a leather bag, so I ordered a rear rack from the dealer when I purchased my 300 GTS SS.

First add was a tinted fly screen.

My wife couldn't reach the pillion foot pegs so I got the foot peg extenders.

Then "winter" arrived in Houston and I purchased the Vespa full windscreen.

My wife complained that the power of the 300cc's kept her thinking she was going to be thrown off the rear of the scooter, so I got a rear Cuippini back rest.

I ordered the European front and rear LED running lights, turn signals from Scooterwest. It is a great looking mod for our U.S. models.

I am so sorry Airborne.... I never saw this.

I use the 90 light kit on my GTS. It has 10 strips, 2 for the front fender, 4 underneath the bottom, and 4 under the back panals 2 per side.

To add to the "downward" glow, I used super strong double sided tape to attach 90 "L" brackets to the inside of the fenders, then attached the light to the L bracket facing straight down. The whole kit is SUPER waterproof, I have driven through water as deep as the foot well many times, so 4 lights were completely submerged, never had a single problem. I have had these lights now 2 years, I just have to wipe them clean every couple of months.

http://www.joeflorida.com/sport-motorcycle-90-single-color-led-kit/

I would add 30 bucks and hook up the wireless remote. It is my one regret.

Other advice, Make sure you set your quick release plugs so it is easy to remove rear panels for oil and tire changes.

On the front, I got some mesh wire tube, and ran it from inside the body, down through into the front fender. I then ran the power cords though the middle of the mesh tube. This way the front wheel turning and rubbing around doesn't pull or yank on the small power cords.

For the most part I'm with the group.

On my MP3 500:
Windscreen.
Top Case.
Foot pegs.

But the big splurge has been on all the bed and breakfasts we go to now.

My 2015 gts super has had after first service, new clutch new clutch springs new variator and rollers also shortie mirrors. Now it flys like rocket. The only other mod I want to do is replace stock seat with old school sport seat, not even sure if this is posible😎

Hi Airborne,
I don't think you would regret a blanket for the colder weather. I have one on each of the two scooters I have. It'll keep you warm and you appreciate the less breezy feel.
Hi Judy,
Thanks for your advice about Malossi's, I have read all your posts I think and they look like good value and get the job done. You live in Hawaii I think. That must be an interesting place as it is warm and you have lots of tropical fruit. Yum!![/quote]

Go to Louisville so you can add Kentucky to that scoot map! (That's where I'm originally from)
