Hi all
I curently have jettin bar ends with chinese mirrors
1 Jettin bar end weighs 433grams, plus on top of that 1 chinese mirror, so in total 1 side weighs 540grams

I want to get new bar end mirrors and they come with the mirror as well, see pic

prob is the whole thing weighs 225grams
yikes

so i want to know before i buy it which is kind of expensive, if this is going to drastically affect the way the bike handles steering wise

if anyone has done this before or got any advice id love to hear

Well,

People usually use the heavier weights on the gts to eliminate the wobble, lighter the weights the less of a dampening effect they will have.

But, it shouldn't cause you any problems that aren't already there with the gts.

If anything, it will improve the handling, and reduce the potential of wobbling if you have a load on the back or in a rear top case. I seem to recall the GTS300 changed the rake on the steering, which was an improvement on the standard low speed wobble of the GTS250.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the weightier bar ends help with the wobble? For example when you fit a top Box, the longer heavier bar end weights are required to dampen the extra wobble produced by the weight at the back of the scoot lifting up the front making it lighter. Could be remembering wrong.

yeh i thought the same thing, the heavier the weights the less wobble. Is that not the case?

Yes, added weight to bar ends will improve low speed wobble.

I read and re-read and read again my post trying to figure out why you guys are telling me something I thought i had clearly stated. I now now realize I mis-read the OP, thinking that the last weight he mentioned was *adding* that weight to the ends, not the total final weight.

Personally I wonder why not make the OEM bars heavier, and avoid the need for bar end weights. Even in terms of cost, you could fill the bars with something cheap and dense, and for flexibility keep the threaded insert with a simple cap on top. Add a top case, or want to add bar end mirrors, pop off the cap and there is the threaded insert.

Understand you'd have to add more weight due to being closer to center of rotation....

I don't see the heavier handlebar coming stock, it is far easier for each owner to adjust such things to suit their needs and wants, make a good, stable, stock ride and let us owners tweak to suit our wants and needs.
Lightening up those handlebars with a change of mirrors can effect the handling, but you can compensate with a bit more added weight on that front, add a front rack if you don't already have 1, put on that windscreen you have wanted...
