I'm slapping together a V90 w/100 sport top end & 19/19 carb for Mcweber and hit a snag. The ET3 exhaust included wont fit around the tire/hub. I still have the v90 stock exhaust which should fit.

My question is, is it worth bending the ET3 exhaust to fit for the performance aspect or should I go stock? I don't know what performance gains will come out of it but I have access to oxy/acetylene so it's not a big deal either way.

I've ridden a few 100 sports and 60's v90's but they were all in such different mechanical condition that it's hard to compare.

Just out of curiosity, did you adjust the inlet timing? That would be the only restrictive element you haven't addressed already that might negate the exhaust's benefits.

I remember hearing that most SF cranks are 110° but early 90s and 50s were less 101° ish. The 100 Sport was more like 127°. I think later ETS models neared 150°.

Nope. Didn't do any porting work. I just slapped the 100 sport top end on the V90 3 speed motor.

I would image the exhaust probably won't make that much of a difference because the inlet is already so restricted. That being said I would still try it.

Get this pipe.. if not for performance, get it for looks.. I love the look of this pipe.. white ceramic w/ the yellow Pinasco logo..

... borrowed from "dazz's" beautiful, clean v90 on the small frame forum:

I'd love to do mine in white ceramic. w/ the Vaderbilt logo "painted" on in ceramic (or whatever they use for high heat)

Ahhhhh, that exhaust is listed at $475 here in the U.S. I also distinctly remember reading that the finish fell off for someone. Which would that the most expensive sticker ever?

Yeah... I didn't say it was cheap... it's pretty pricy by any standard, but it's a good looking pipe.

It is rare that scooter related items are considered aesthetically. If it had a little performance characteristic and spring mount... I'd be more interested.

Is it??? 50% if not 80-90% of scooter enthusiasts are driven by aesthetics*...

I strive to get a balance of both.. aesthetics and performance..

... there was a time where looks meant a lot to me, but I've graduated.... figured out ways to use what I have to make a bike look OK, and get the best performance possible.. My point is, I'm into FUNCTION over FORM these days.

Who knows.. I may take one of my pipes, have it ceramic coated in white and see if ther can do the same w/ my logo... it'd no doubt be an expensive pipe at the end of the day, but I can dream.

*it's a fact.... look it up... and I'd lean towards the 90%

I agree and my comment was a vague generalization. Also, an aesthetics discussion might be too tangential for this thread.

I like the idea of doing your own DIY pipe in a similar style.

Hey I love clean as much as the next guy, but a white exhaust pipe? Isn't that kind of like white tires or a white BBQ grill? Not gonna stay white very long.

No.. it's ceramic and you just wipe it down.. AND if you are savvy about jetting and premix ratio, your shouldn't have oily mix spiting on yer exhaust..

does the exhaust line up if you flip the mounting bracket over at the swingarm?

Nope. Not even close. I tried all the combos to see if any way lined up better than the other. I didn't get to the hardware store in time for a longer swingarm bolt and washer

Ok, but for the record the last time we had "oily mix spitting out our exhaust" was after the burrito especial at El Patio. Whew! Talk about "wiping it down"...
