Hey guys,

As an offshoot to my other thread (https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic148633#2096735) in which my PX150 won't start. Even though I have a spark, I have been advised to maybe check to see if the spark is strong enough or the CDI is working well.

Does anyone have a good vid or instructional on how to use a multimeter and check these things on a PX before I go out and buy a new CDI or spark plug wire, etc?

Thanks!

I also have a multimeter but fail to understand how to use it for simple scooter tests. A video series of basic testing would be awesome.

Think about how much voltage would be required to make an electric travel through air (i.e. arc). It's over 10,000 volts, more than a cheap multi meter can read. A spark tester, from an auto parts store, would be the thing to use. They use a high voltage neon lamp, and the brighter it is, the stronger the spark. However, if you ask me, any spark should be good enough to get your motor to run. It just might run badly if the spark isn't strong.

This thread seemed useful.
Multimeter
See the link posted in this thread for what seems to be a fairly good guide how to diagnose electrical issues on a bike.
