Hey guys,
I've got 2 10W running lights I want to mount on a rear rack and tie into the existing wiring. I plan on installing a Stebel air horn as well and am wondering if this will be too much draw to add in the system? The Stebel will be running off a foot switch and only used when needed and I'm considering putting a switch on the running lights so I have an on/off option. I want to splice them into the wire cluster behind the battery, does anyone have any experience on the best place to do this?

Thanks!

Do you find the battery recharges well for you now? I haven't ridden a p200 in a while but I remember having to hook it up to battery tender pretty often. I might have been casual about leaving the key in the on position.

I have an extra light I run on a Sprint but I use rechargeable batteries. It's a 6v '74 system so it barely keeps itself going. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't mess with the whole system. Even if I leave the key on, I always have one light that works.

don't do anything you can't easily undo. I have some friends in town who like to add or "fix" things on the cheap. But when they have issues and they do, there is no easy repair because of the mods. If you do mods make sure you use same color wiring and quality connectors.

Yeah, I was hoping someone had done this before and knew of an easy place to clip a couple of lead wires in. I don't want to start messing with the existing circuit. The Stebel is it's own circuit, so that's easy. Thanks though.

I don't know about the Stebel part, but I added a brake light to my top case and ran it off the existing wiring.
I used an LED light and it works great with very little draw.
So you may want to consider replacing your running light bulbs with LED bulbs.

The easiest way to run the horn would be to splice the existing horn wires.

And the running lights can be spliced if you use led to tail.

Cheers

Perfect - very good to know. I'll look for some led conversions for the 10w bulbs, or just rig something up.

I'm not sure if the air horn is legal in NJ, so I'm going to leave the regular horn intact and have a separate loom for the Stebel, which will wire on to the battery terminals. I'll post pics of that when I get that far.

Thanks guys!
