Just sold my 86 p150, and I'm going To look at a p200, I want a bit more speed. I am driving 150 miles to look at 1980 p200 in seemingly good shape, no rust. I will be dragging a trailer to bring her home, ( the wife disapproves)
How can I haggle the price down if I have driven so far with a trailer!

It shows that you are serious about buying. I did the same thing when looking at a CL350 some time ago, no problems dealing on the price but I ended up walking away and drove back home with an empty trailer.

I was looking for a motorcycle with my son (for him) and told him not to get too attached to anything we may encounter. Always be ready to walk away or it will cost you later. 150 miles is a good bit of driving to look at a scoot, but I and many other have driven much farther. The good thing is that you going to see it in person, rather than hitting a button on Ebay and hope for the best. When checking it out, do not mention the price. Let he owner do that. Usually the first person who talks money is the one that loses. You will have the trailer, so the owner will know you are serious (as if driving 150 miles is not enough!), but don't let him think he has you hooked. Get you test ride in, look it over good, mention anything that is not up to snuff, and make an offer - for me - usually 10% below what he is asking. Unless it is spelled out in the add as firm, consider it an asking price open to an offer. Be willing to walk away. Most of all be respectful - this goes a long way.. That P looks good, but I do not know what they are going for in your area, so keep that in mind too. Good luck, not that you need it - you already have a T5. Razz emoticon
