Hi guys -

Trying to decide between a new Burg 200 or an '08 GTS 250 with 2400 mi. The guy just dropped the price of the Vespa to $3000 firm. I'm thinking that's a good deal, but I don't know what I should be aware of when looking at an '08 (or Vespa in general).

Anyone have a few pointers? I'm sure I'd have to replace tires but what else would need looking at?

Thanks

Burgman is a nice bike. Handles great in comparison.
If you can get past the bulbous ugly rear end it's the best of the two choices.

Actually there are any number of good choices in that size range. It depends on what you want. If you want the modern reincarnation of the classic scooter with capabilities for in town, rural roads, and highways - then a GTS Vespa may be for you. If that classic aspect doesn't resonate with you, there are capable choices from Kymco, Sym, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda.

...and Piaggio. We love our BV's here too.

For the money though, I'd go new Burgy. Or lightly used Kymco Downtown 300i. Honda Forza 300 is a decent machine too.

Yes, most definitely "and Piaggio". My opinion is that the BV350 is one of the great values and great underappreciated large scooters on the road. But, there are times when only a Vespa will do.

When I was looking at what to get to downsize from my T-Max I decided that I didn't really want just another scooter, I really wanted a Vespa. I certainly don't regret it!

Thanks much for the input!

I had been looking at a '13 BV350 on a consignment lot, but it got to be such a stringy deal I walked away. It was the only BV350 I'd seen within 200 miles of home... maybe I should see if it's still available.

What I'm really wanting is something with a more comfortable and softer ride than my Blur (and a bit more power wouldn't hurt either). My bones ain't what they used to be!
