My LX 50 just today started giving me trouble starting. The same day I actually put the ad on Craigslist.

Usually she starts right up and purrs along. Today, she needed 3 attempts to start, then initially sounded like she was going to stall when stopped--she didn't stall, but sure sounded like she would. Once she warmed up (riding for 10 minutes) no problems.

Any ideas as to the cause other than spite?

Scoot is letting you know the riding season is coming to an end, due to your geography. Hence, putting Scoot up for sale now, and, a willing Buyer comes forward, there is the high probability you will be offered less, than, if you were to put Scoot up for sale in the spring. Scoot is just sayin' and something to consider. May want to wait until the spring, unless, of course you need the cash immediately.

I live on the south shore of Lake Erie, in the snow belt. A few years back, in October, I picked up a Real Sweet Deal on a HD Sportster with only 1700 miles, from the original owner. I had to winterize soon after purchase, and wait until spring to ride it.

So, the fact that she sat in a cold garage all night had something to do with it?

I believe in spite. Laughing emoticon Why are you selling it? Did you fill it up lately? Throw some SeaFoam in it and take it for a long ride and see if that helps. Good luck

Judy I think I remember reading that she would like to move up to 150cc or more, considering the area it would make sense.

By the way I moved her out of the garage and out into the sun as we were stacking wood and needed more room to move around. I took her for a ride this afternoon, and lo and behold, she started up immediately.

I think my little Italian beauty doesn't like the cooler weather. She needs an espresso.

Just have a one on one talk. Mention the new owner will probably use only premium fuel, park in a climate controlled garage, and will get cleaned/wax once a month. That might do the trick.

It's a fuel additive that you can buy at Auto stores or WalMart. Cleans stuff up (supposedly). Doesn't hurt and people say it works. I use ethanol free gas but you should be using premium gas or at least anything about 87 grade. A 150 would be better for where you live. RTE 2 comes to mind.

My LX did the same a few years back... One day before I introduced her to her new riding mate she blew her back tire. Had to replace the rear tire.

I had the same issue with my LX50 once the weather got cold. I bought some SeaFoam on Amazon and it solved the problem immediately... Just keep a bottle in the pet carrier and dump in a couple swigs each time before you fill up.

That is, while you still have her... I ditched my LX after six months for a new GTS!

Also, don't winterize it and put it away for the winter! Get a Thermoscud and a warm pair of gloves and you'll have fun all year!

Rte 2, Zoar Rd., riding up Greylock, riding Rte 7 to Gt. Barrington (why is there a GREAT Barrington and no LESSER Barrington?) or up to Williamstown...Rte 143 to go fishing (after I find a way to hold my rod tubes and waders).
