I'm going to be swapping out my GTS's Exhaust Gasket this weekend. In the meantime I still have to get to work. I ride a little under 40 miles each way, taking about an hour a day.

The low grunt noise of the gasket slipping seemingly happened overnight but after a 2000 mile roadtrip. Generally I'd hear it pop a little after I slowdown from a long run but it just happened one morning at startup. I did a quick inspection and it doesnt seem loose per se, just the gasket inside is clearly going.

My question is are there any roadside remedies to help avoid any problems between here and the day I fix it. Make-a-gasket type stuff from Autozone. Something that wont cause a problem when I remove the exhaust in a couple of days either.

LMK. Thanks. Keep Scootin.

I carry extra gaskets and the proper tools to do the change myself.

Have you got a spare gasket and the tools? It won't take more than 10 minutes max. If you have a mat or towel or a nice grassy bit of ground, just rest the scooter on its left-hand side and go for it. BTDTGTTS.

I understand that you are looking for a bandaid to keep you going. The short answer is, " there isn't one". Once the gasket starts to go, it is only a matter of time until it blow's completely. You're just better off changing it before that happens. The good thing is you caught It before the big bang. Now get out there and get your hands dirty. 8)

Well hey, I appreciate a definitive answer at least. I'm looking to pick up a gasket today and do the work tonight. I've done the swap a few times over on other bikes.

Its just funny the way some responses come in. I can say 'bike cant start 20 miles after a recent fillup' and I wouldnt be surprised if I get a response along the lies of 'does the bike have gas in it'.

No fingers being pointed, just jestin', I appreciate the help.

The subject line of your post was a little misleading. I thought you needed advice on how to do a roadside repair.

Put the pieces back together and wrap it in duct tape.
