Just back from Western Australia where I took part in the 2016 Mille, 1000km over 2 days. A mate and I drove across in a van with 5 scooters on board, so a bit over 7000 k's driving.
There were a fair few less participants - 18 - than in previous years, mostly due to the cost and time off work needed to get there. We had 3 scooters that ended up on the breakdown trailer, two Lambrettas and one Vespa, so had 15 finishers.

The course was over some pretty open roads and some long stretches without a turn... typical for WA. That meant that the speeds were higher than in other years, on day 2 Rolf and I sat on around 100 and averaged 86.

For people who haven't been to Australia. The top photo is somewhere in the nullabor , the ocean cliffs is the great bite and the rolling green hills are I'm guessing ,, near nannup or donnybrook prob blackwood catchment area?

Nope, Speedy is Purple with hints of Yellow, & is mine, sadly it was sitting back in Melbourne as my boss wouldn't giv me the time off work to go to WA.
Ginchi-Mobile is Lime Green.
We generally ride together & go to many events together as we ride at the same pace, & with the same 'style' & are about as nuts as each other ... Sadly Speedy is not as reliable as Michaels scoot, but we still enjoy the trips.
Rolf, who did the roadtrip & Mille with Michael this time is another friend, genius mechanic & a regular riding buddy. Plus we are all part of "The Dark Lords S.C." (Named such as we generally turn up after dark, often due to Speedy breaking down.... BUT we get there!

This post has a bit more about us...
Hello, my name is..
It would be good for it to continue, as not many on here would actually recognise others from here, besides spotting a scoot that looks familiar.

I was on 1st (NSW, & we rode there first, with Rolf & a few other Dark Lords, I broke down, snapped shirt off barrell) & 3rd Mille (VIC, & I had a hard seize on day 2, fixed it roadside with 120grit sandpaper, a small file, & knife! & finished (just), & had huge carb issues (float on PHBH snapped off!, which I finally replaced tonight)
2nd (QLD) I was on holiday in Israel (which included a Ride & event)
4th (WA) I missed.

Ginch is profile pic is us at Broadford Bike Bonanza, an Easter classic bike event where we 'race' in 15 min blocks, plus we did some Enduro tracks... There are heaps of different events/tracks/styles. I'm on AnaKey, which is now a dedicated Track/Race scoot.
SubEtherBASS profile is us at start of VIC Mille. I'm on Speedy, which was finished the evening before after. 5yr+ rebuild, & blew clutch while testing, & re-tested while riding to startline!

Yeah, I breakdown a LOT, but I ride hard, & generally thrash Speedy/AnaKey, with complete disregard for lengevity, efficiency nor concern about failures, but FUK it, if I wanted to go out & ride all day log or have 100% reliability I could simply be boring & buy a PX200.

Cheers Callum

Absolutely right Josh. The roads into and out of Nannup are the best!

Thanks for that Hal, we had a fantastic time... and faster sometimes is never quite fast enough! Razz emoticon Here's a few shots from here and there. Speedy is SEB/Callum's scooter... mine doesn't have a name. Or if it does it's just The Super.
This is an unflattering shot of me in need of a haircut at a track day we had.

There weren't any bare metal scooters in there Kasper. I'd ask Gary (can't remember his user name right at the moment) who has a project thread called 2016 GS150 project or something like that. Or Ssteam177 who has just finished one.

That is practically in bare metal... it's worn very thin over the years.

Gary is GLScoot. He's done 2 bare metal GS150's as far as I know.
