I have dropped and lost the rubbing lining of my lx 150 top box.
That rubber thingy works like a shock absorber so when I went through a hump, the impact cause both the hinges to snapped and top part to fly land on the rough road!

Replacing the Case would cost around $500++ which is too expensive! I have saw quite a number of other lx150 top box with broken hinges too so I can definitely say its a flaw and they are not strong.

My previous fixes were duct tape, hanger wire, zip ties and all were not working well with bad alignment.

I have had this for about 3 weeks now and so far this is the best.

Special thanks to Ninemesiter from Vespa LX top box repair.

I didn't have the equipment to perform such a professional job though but I manage to find ready made hinges that did the job with abit of tweaking.

I only use simple tools which was a pliers, a diamond file-$2 from daiso, a drill and a knife to cut some parts of the box.

The finish results was not very clean cos I am not a very patient and rather messy person but those hinges does the job real well!

I also did a rubber lining replacement cause I can't find any store that sells it over here.

Check out my youtube video to see my step by step process.

You inspired me to fix mine ready for winter.

It's better than the original cheap hinges.

Thanks for the inspiration

After some lovely help from Steak (thank you), I repaired my top box too. Parts cost under $20AU... So much cheaper than buying a new top box at $400+AU.

I had all the tools so didn't need to buy any. Most useful were gripping pliers and a decent sized bastard file. Also a saw to trim the bolts.

Didn't use washers, but bolts with self-locking nuts. Will see how these go.

So far one of the pins keeps vibrating out, so have put some liquid nails glue on the end, will see how that goes too.

Feels great to finally have my top box back!

Trimmed some of the bolts too short :/

Wow... that is a great "econo fix" way to go. Will try that myself, someday.
