We found some really appropriate stainless brackets at Lowe's, and SECURELY mounted the SX Appeal soft topcase to the chrome rack. I heated an icepick and plunged it through the bottom and inner plate for the holes, used fender washers inside, and short nuts and bolts ground flush afterward.

I don't think we'll lose this topcase!
