Modern Vespa

Not sure where to post this.I'm north of Dayton Ohio 30 miles.I am looking for other vespa riders in the area to hook up and ride with.

If you can wait until September, I'll be there for AimExpo eith a couple of my bikes, and we can do a quick dash down to the Hocking Hill area.

Hey Rocky, I was up in SE OH riding my Vespa a few weeks back on that last 70's day we had.
I'm a bit older than you, still throwing a leg and still have MC's too but love my Vespa! I am a life long rider since 1963. I'm 73 this week & see it/Vespa as becoming my senior ride-HA! someday...

I'm up for a ride but the white stuff is coming today and in the teens here in a day or so, so maybe a bit nippy?
My wife doesn't do two wheeled rides beyond a pizza run so a riding partner sounds good to me. Compatible ride partners are well known to be a hard thing to find too! Honestly, I'm not much of a groupie either & like many riders have made mostly solo tours, including Mexico rides.

Rocky and others- I am also looking for a ride partner for a fly & rent, winter, self tour, in South America-Ecuador and Colombia (done separately).

Lets do a PM and get a ride in mind for spring? I'm ~ 1.5 hours below Maysville,KY/Aberdeen,OH on the river.
I have a route planned already for some of the best roads in SE OH, some I've not been on, including OH550-said to be a doozy. My personal plan includes hauling my scoot to FL and AZ this winter

This thread brings to mind for me the need for a "Trip Planning" section on MV?
The Rallies & Events section here is not the same subject as seeking ride information about an area or a route for a trip or others to ride with, as did Rocky herein.
Neither is there a true place to ask questions about such.
As a MC rider I'm frequently found on ADV a huge MC forum and Trip Planning is an extremely popular and active section. They take it a step further by having a regional aspect to trips-NorthAmerica, Latin America, South America which probably isn't needed here as ADV & Horizons Unlimited cover that area of long distance two wheeled travel well.
It's a thought!

We meet at least once a month at various places all over the Miami Valley (our December meeting is 12/15/2016 at the new Archers in Kettering). We also do numerous rides (short and long) throughout the year.

Man a meet up would be great. Unfortunately I live on the complete other side of Ohio. And unfortunately there are hardly any scooterist in my area. I try and keep an eye out for them but I mostly see a lot of Harley's and Honda's in the area. A guy at the corner here just opened up a used car lot early this year and he has been selling some scoots. Mostly brand X but I have seen two Honda elites sitting outside his shop. Went down and talked to him a while ago but that was uneventful as I got the feeling he was not interested in scooting or servicing or anything that makes the lifestyle so great. Anyways, I have been looking for a group to get together with, but it seems to be of no hope on this side of Ohio. Not to mention my work and school schedule keep me close to home everyday.

Hello rocky69. Unfortunately, I am not in your neck of the woods in the southwest Buckeye state. I am in the snow belt in the north east, off the southern shore of Lake Erie in Geauga County! OOC, what do you mean "on the complete other side of Ohio?" Directly east on the complete other side, near Wheeling; or elsewhere, directly north or south?

To follow up my PM to Rocky-I'm below him in E KY near to the Red River Gorge Geologic Area & Natural Bridge St Pk. I'm ~ 1.5 hrs ride below the Ohiho river at Maysville,KY/Aberdeen,OH bridge.

BTW, being on the "other side " of OH is/can be part of the trip, is it not...
It's not Ohiho is all that big. The best riding is right above me in the SE quadrant of the state which is a part of the Appalachian area I live in which lies on whats called the Cumberland Plateau-lots of hills & curves and nice scenic rides with many small towns and great state roads in well kept condition. Given the energy situ not so many coal trucks either these days.
As for fellow scoot owners near me-never have I seen one and there's actually not many non-scoot riders either...
FWIW, for me 2-3 riders is a large group, no matter when or where.

BTW, it clearly says Piqua,OH in his post. Im my way of thinking that's near the middle and hard to be on the other side for anyone.

Gen City Rollers or Mighty Ohio Scooter Club (MOSC) in Cincinnati has group rides all the time. Can find either on Facebook.. Check out Meetup also..

I'm about thirty minutes south of canton and there is definitely some nice scenic roads to ride on around here. Like the beautiful Amish country, I have ridden out past a couple of lakes and been on stretches of road that lead for miles with nothing but fields on either side. You could say it is quite rural.

I've also done group rides with MOSC in the Cincy area and Columbus Cutters. Pride of Cleveland is another area group in the NE corner.

Gem City Roller should have some rides coming in the next few months, but we get really active March - October. We may do a Freeze Your Gems Off ride in January.
