After two years commuting 25 miles each way from central London to Surrey (Vauxhall, Battersea, Wandsworth, A3 to Leatherhead) on my GTS 250 I was glad to finally be starting a new job a bit closer to home at Park Royal yesterday. 10 miles compared to 25 miles.

So its now Vauxhall, Chelsea, Earls Court, Shepherds Bush, Westaway A40 Park Royal I think I preferred my old commute.

Alternative to the chaos of Earls Court one way system is to stay on the Westaway longer and go via the West End but Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane are like one of Dante's Seven Circles of Hell when its wet and dark at rush hour.

Old commute was mostly one or two lanes of traffic but the new one is mostly three lanes so when you are in the centre lane cars can come at you from both sides. The A40 is fast and strangely dark, lots of the street lights seem to not work or be switched off. Might upgrade the headlight bulb to something brighter, first time I've ever felt it lacking.

At least it's parked in a secure underground carpark at work, Park Royal isn't leafy Surrey that's for sure. Handy for The Ace Café though.

Be careful upgrading the bulb. If you get a higher wattage, you risk melting the headlight enclosure.

Best

Headlight wiped clean helped a lot (scoot hasn't been washed in 6 months).

Headlight beam adjusted down a bit has also helped.

Sorted.

Hmm.. I like the sound of your commute at least. Sounds very "english" to my yankee ears. Mine is Central, US27, I-74, I-275, US27. Doesn't sound as interesting

My wife studied in London for a semester and loved it. I must visit this town-maybe not ride a scoot, but at least visit..

The only thing I know about Cincinnati is that LaVerne & Shirley lived there, it's probably not all diners and bowling alleys these days.

My other Ohio knowledge comes from Miss Congeniality, Holly Mills playing Miss Ohio.

Cincinnati is what was called the "the Queen City of the West" and the "Paris of America" because of our architecture. A long (for the US) rich history and lots of "firsts" for America.

We were the first major city in what was then the western part of the US -late 1700s. Ohio is in the midwestern part of the US now and so is Milwaukee, Wisconsin where the Lavern and Shirley Show was set.

I live in a neighborhood in Cincinnati called "Over the Rhine" so named for a strong German immigrant heritage. A canal once ran through Cincinnati nicknamed the Rhine which needed to be crossed to visit the German neighborhood -Over the Rhine. OTR is now the largest intact (it is estimated by the US Department of the Interior) neighborhood of historic Victorian architecture... Not many diners and bowling alleys, but lots of breweries and bars!

Ah, LaVerne and Shirley lived in Milwaukee and worked in a brewery (later Burbank for long-time fans).

I have no idea what you just said. I live in Vegas and talk to a lot of British people at work. I have to ask them to repeat everything they say. Makes me feel a little silly. My Mexican buddies are always like, "Was that English?" Yep. I have no idea what I speak, but it ain't English! I think I'd be a lot less confused if I visited Spain instead of England. By the way, what is the proper response to "Cheers"? I always just stand there dumbfounded.

My commute is a lot simpler- Trop all the way down.

If I had to "English" name my commute it would be Townsend Gapland Speedrome Brainless Traffwick Monocacy.
