They mention it once, on a page with a graph.
http://www.engines.piaggio.com/product-range.asp That's interesting. |

The page mopeds-scooters.asp was updated yesterday and product-range.asp was updated in summer 2016.

This was a good article related to the 350 coming to a Vespa near you (or not)

I hope the 350 makes its way into the GTS ... I'm riding the BV 350 and its the best scooter i've ever ridden in that category. I'm sure us Vespa guys will get there's soon.

The engine size has been discussed in a thread already. In there it says that the current GTS engine is about as much as the scooter can handle (not in these words, but that's how I understood it). Put in a stronger engine, and the relatively short wheelbase, small wheels, may have an issue.

A newer design 200-250 engine would make more horsepower and get better fuel economy than the Quasar in the GT300. But the tooling's long paid off and how many people buy a Vespa for the fuel economy or performance?

It may also be that with all the money Piaggio is pouring into Moto Guzzi and Aprilia that they may be slower to design and produce a bigger, better version of something that sells already. Think Harley Davidson.

The large frame Vespa GTS handles the 250 and the 300 engines well. Any new engine will likely be a 299cc (or thereabouts) brand new motor putting out around 24hp and 26nm of torque, in the new GTS. Any new frame will be only slightly bigger with about 25mm longer wheelbase for more stability and bigger fuel tank. Front wheel may be a 13". Vespa won't make massive sweeping changes I doubt as it may alienate us users and buyers. They will continue to evolve the bike rather than change it completely. It's the no 1 selling bike over here and they won't want to upset that. The same motor will be used in other machines too and will be tuned for more performance/power for those bikes. The current 350 (330cc) motor with Euro 4 compliance is down on power by 3ps to 30ps. A new engine of 299cc will easily put out 30ps and be much more torquey and frugal on fuel. Can't wait to see what happens.
