I have an extreme itch to sell my Burgman Executive and buy a new 2017 GTV300, probably in the Spring. Being frugal (cheap), I'm wondering how much wiggle room these Vespa dealers have from MSRP??

My first Vespa, age 14, was a new green 1958 Allstate Crusaire which was actually a Vespa 125. I see that the new GTV is about the same color green. I may be going back to my second or third childhood!

Thanks for any advice!

If you check the wiki you can read that there is almost no wiggle room.

But you can get the dealer to throw in extra stuff like the first service for free, a free helmet, a hug/high five.

Thanks much. I just read the Wiki and you're right. Gosh, the guy who wrote that must be old like me. He used the same term as me, 'wiggle room".

Wiggle Room??
Howdy Treeman;

Go end of the month, before spring. I have found most room is on accessories and the labor for installation.
No trade held too
Good luck 👍

That is a good point. Try to get as much free stuff as possible (without being an ass though, I personally feel its better to foster a good relationship with a good dealer than it is to get the best deal for your scooter while leaving a bad taste in the dealers mouth).

Get your perks on accessories, as has been said.

Maybe a good deal on a sweet helmet?

Thanks Budz. Those are good prices for sure. However, I want the green 2017. Normally color means little to me, but this will undoubtedly be my last bike/scooter so want the same color I started with in 1958.

There are a couple of green 2017 GTVs on that list, scroll down...

I did see the 2017's on there but at full MSRP. Maybe I'm missing something.

One of the best bikes I ever owned was 100/7 that I put 300K miles on, so I admire your taste in bikes.
For reasons known only to people who have never seen the Exorcist, the color you want is in high demand. As a cheap basterd, you have a few options,
Find a dealer who ordered a bunch of them and can't sell ice in the desert, and pay dealer cost to take it off his flooring.
Buy one from someone who bought it because it was going to change their life and then realized they are the same miserable schmuck as before, but now they are making payments on a Vespa, or wait until it's a new non-current, 2019 or so.
You may get lucky and walk into a deal. The important thing to remember is that it's not like buying a car, where people use logic and reason to buy and sell. It's a Vespa, and the dealer selling it is often as emotionally invested as the person trying to buy it.

Motovista,

Thanks for the compliment on my 100/7. Yes, they were/are excellent bikes. I have many fond memories of long tours on that bike. It now has just under 100,000 miles. However, I've not ridden that bike in many years, now much a keepsake, etc.

Due to age, both me and my pillion buddy, Pugsley have not toured much for the last couple of years, but in 8 years, we've logged over 75,000 miles together on 4 different bikes, Kawasaki Concours, ST1300/A, Gold Wing, Vespa GTS250ie, and our present steed which is a 07 Burgman Executive.

It seems the GTV300 would fit my needs because we 've averaged just under 5000 yearly miles the last two years. Two reasons for wanting the GTV, #1, same color of my first Vespa, #2, it seems the pillion seat could easily be converted to accommodate Pugsley.

Your buying points are excellent!

I highly recommend you sit on one one before buying it, because the seat does keep you in one place, and for some people it's a little cramped at the knees.

I know its not green, but you would get a deal on a 2016 in silver.

No technical changes to 2017, just a color change for a significant savings. Find a dealer with one in stock and get to dealing.

The greens are also limited production, so there wont be any wiggle room.

Be sure to compare out the door pricing OTD, since fees can vary by leftover 2016, demo, or very in demand status.

On the 2017 Greens "MSRP is set at $7,599 we are expecting a natural market demand of approximately 400 to 500 units, but only 324 scooters are destined for the USA market. As an added incentive, the first 99 dealer orders will receive an additional striking red split saddle."
