Dear all
I wondered if you could help please.
My Vespa GTS '07 plate had a new starter motor and battery fitted last year. I have not run her for a while and she is left outside in the cold (with a cover).
I recharged battery and had it tested and is fine...all the lights come on - have checked all the fuses and earth wire. Stop switch seems ok? Just doesn't turn over.
Any advice would be great...many thanks, Shaun

OK - sounds like it's not the immobiliser then (first easy check).
Now check the brake light comes on when you hold either brake lever in. If the brake light doesn't come on, one or both of the brake light switches is probably faulty (though unusually it could be a wiring or fuse fault). Without 12V to the brake light, there's no power available for the starter relay.
If the brake lights do work, check with a multimeter or test light that 12V is getting to the starter relay coil when the starter button is pressed - if not, the button switch may be faulty. If 12V does get there, check that the contacts are OK in the relay - i.e. that 12V appears on the starter side. If not, then swap out the relay - you need an 80A or 90A relay, not the common or garden 30A relay.
If 12V is getting through the relay, but no action from the starter motor, check the connection at the starter motor itself.
