How did you get that alumi-nee-um so shiny? Just rubbing, or did you use chemicals/compound?

Love what you have done with all the engine parts, hydro blasting may be what we call vapour blasting. I have been working through my engine bits as I can afford to pay for them to be done, but I want to know a couple of things from anyone who is familiar with the 180SS motor I am doing.
1. How do/did you clean up the barrel, and
2. What finish is correct ex factory for the barrel?
Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry I can't answer that as my engine mechanic prepared the engine for me and he did tell me how he did it but that was over 6 months ago.

Finally done!!
So after a bit over 12 months, apart from a few small details we are done and the restoration project has completed. Only real sticking point has been the really poor after sales support from SIP who supplied us a couple of the Vespatronic systems that were nothing like what we saw on Youtube. They were incorrectly wired and unlike the SIP product video had no timing marks. The SIP engineers didn't respond to questions, most of the time, and when they bothered to do so gave scant information, usually ignoring the main question that they were useless anyway!

Looks fantastic. Be sure to bring it to the national rally in Byron in September.

SIP can be good but those two-word answers that don't actually tell you anything drive me crazy. You may be able to ask Tino Sacchi (the maker of the Vespatronic) on Facebook.

Byron
Thanks Ginch,
Not sure about the Byron meet but am riding it to the National Scooter Rally in Canberra on the 6th April. You going?

Yes. Three of us riding up from Melb (or thereabouts), it'll be fun. I'll look out for you.
