Hi all. This oil is exactly the one that manufacture recommended for Piaggio scooters, just different name. Do you think I can use this oil? Thanks.

As long as it's the right weight you can use any brand. I use Rotella because that's what they have a WalMart (yes i go there occasionally Crying or Very sad emoticon ). LEMUR i change mine out every 3,000 miles. Cheap insurance as they say.

And don't forget the special Piaggio 80% nitrogen mix for the tires. Keeps the rubber black you know.

If you don't put the miles on, at least a minimum of every year. My logic : I drive less than a 1,000 miles during the riding season. Then the bike sits in the off season. Only ridden on the best of days weather permitting. Last year was less than 300 miles.

I have to go to Long Island to a Walmart to pickup a gallon of Rotella T6. Also there is a mail-in-rebate for $5 that you can fill out online...
Agree with Judy that change the oil at 3k miles, if one does it themselves they get to save some money rather than having it done at the shop..

In Denver Napa sells T6 for $1.80 less per gallon than walmart. The fellow taking your money at the register makes more than minimum wage as well. If there is a Napa near you check it out. Rebate works no matter where you buy it. If you don't need the rewards code under the lid, please pm it to me.

There is a NAPA in Brooklyn a few miles away. I shall go and see if their price is the same as Walmart's then I don't have to schlep all the way to Long Island to get it...plus I can avoid Walmart..
Thanks Abner

Sort of. When Aprilia used the Piaggio Leader air cooled engine, the same engine in Vespa ET4, LX125 and 150 and S125 and 150, they recommended 15w-50. Most companies with Engineers don't recommend 5-40 in an air cooled motor, and suggest changing it depending on the climate.
When Piaggio took over Moto Guzzi, they switched the oil recommendation to 5-40. After enough people did, and they saw what happens when you put 5-40 in a large air cooled bike, they switched to recommending heavier oil.
