Modern Vespa

Hi all -- got a sorta obscure and possibly dumb question here. My battery-less PX's 3-pin voltage regulator conked out the other day and my nearest, easiest potential replacement is a 4-pin Ducati unit for PXes with battery. (see attached).

The only difference, obviously, is the extra pin for the battery. My question is, could I hook this thing up with just the double green wire and the yellow wire and the black ground, leaving the battery pin disconnected, and would it work?

(Yes, I'd just go and try it out but my garage is way, way across town and it's a bit of a schlep.)
