I have a '65 Allstate that I am starting to get an issue with the kick starter. Every once in a while it will slip when get the right two teeth meshing that are wore or chipped. It still is working but I want to get my ducks in a row for when the parts fail and they will have to be replaced. I have nearly 6000 on the motor now and figure I might as well go thru the engine and get it all set for the next 6000 miles or longer. I would like to get the cases vapor blasted and have someone that really knows there stuff rebuild it so it is done right. Maybe even juicing up the motor a little bit in the process.

I live in Michigan, where is the best place to get the motor rebuild and what is the best way to get the motor there as I am going to assume that the builder will not be in or near Michigan.

Thanks in advance.

Jon Gick, down in Indianapolis, is my go-to source for major work. He's further away than I'd like (and further yet for you), and he's a one-man part-timer who works out of his garage, but Jon knows these bikes well. Probably the best way to get it there is to throw it in your trunk, and drive it down there on some mutually agreeable date--he's quite flexible and accommodating.

Yeah, Jon Gick is your local guy. If you were planning on just shipping the engine, you may also consider Rob Hodge.
