Modern Vespa

First I planned to buy a new 4 gear box for my DR 85cc kit. But had a second thought and think Im going to stay with the 3gear.
Is this looking ok? It clicks and moves nice when moving the selector. Really dont want to take the spring and balls out...

Was it slipping at all before you opened it up? Are you gonna be real aggressive on it? If the answer is no to both I'd say go for it. You can save your money for other things.

I dont know, bought the engine from a man that had it in his barn for several years and did not know much about it.

Im not gonna drive agressive just normal cruising

Its a cheap part that often wears down so change it (shift cross/spider) while you have the cases apart....then you know it is good rather than finding out a few kms into the new rebuild and end up with '''damn should've changed that cross back when it was open"
also check kick start rubbers and kick start gear cog while its open. Do it all and that case should stay closed for the next 20 years

Don't cut corners now its open..its false ecconomy

Yes that would be pain if thats gonna happen. How much do 4 gears do for the driving? Thinking if Im upgrading the whole box instead

Not that cheap for a new selector, almost half a 4 box kit.
