Modern Vespa

Hi Guys,

I am having a problem on my 300 supersport. Just took her out Saturday and Sunday after the winter, into some nice sunshine. The thing is I cant help but beat everything at the traffic lights when I take off! It is getting very very addictive. The latest was another motorcyclist pulled up beside me at the lights...He never spoke. I as usual let it rip and left him in my wake. Eventually he pulled up beside me again and asked what I had. I told him it is a Vespa 300 and he couldnt believe it as he was on a 700cc. Obviously he could out run me with top line speed.
Anyone else have this same problem or is it just me?

This behaviour is puerile. I also find it amusing how quick they are from the off and I do indulge myself occasionally as I too, am childish.

That's the temptation with an automatic transmission - every take off is the fastest possible with only a twist of wrist.

That's actually douple fun from the point of view that Vespa 300 is not very fast on actual terms - it just that it is so much easier to accelerate than many other vehicles on the street!

Even when I rode my LX I loved out-accelerating everything I could. Fortunately, in or near the cities you don't have to be humiliated later at higher speeds.

Childish, sure. I missed out on some of the usual shenanigans of youth. My mom wouldn't let me watch the Three Stooges either, so I've had to make up for that too.

Oh dear. Yes you have an infliction, don't see any remedy available either, so you'll have to live with it.

Another reason why I've chosen a cylinder kit for my ET4 125, older Vespas deserve a little more respect.

I can't wait to see the looks on the rowdy Audi drivers in town.
