On Sunday I did a 220 mile loop out of Ashland Oregon and went up to 7100ft elevation at Crater Lake. As I started to climb right out of Ashland the bike was running worse and worse. Made several stops to rejet

started with an SIP stack, switched to Dellorto, and then back to SIP

Main Mixer Air Corrector Idle Notes
118 BE3 160 100/50? stock was perfect with stock pipe
125 BE3 160 100/50? SIP Jet stack bogs out and dies with SIP Road2
122 BE3 160 100/50? works well enough in SF
122 BE3 160 100/50? worked well enough in Ashland
120 BE3 160 100/50? Dellorto jet stack, richer than 122
118 BE3 160 100/50? Dellorto jet stack, richer than 122
118 BE3 160 100/50? SIP jet stack, Now it runs again, makes it to the top of Crater lake but boggy
115 BE3 160 100/50? Runs well enough at 7100ft

Opted to leave the 115 main in as we headed down the mountain and the performance just got better and better (as expected) but the temps also stayed in control. Win! Did the next day with the 115 in place and it was good the whole day and went like a rocket.

Why not just get another stock pipe? Do they not make them?

from what I'm told the stock pipes from Piaggio are now crap and don't even fit right, that was my initial choice. the SIP pipe does fit perfect, I'll give them that.

working on a mount that can hold two 1 gal RotoPac fuel cans in the step through. I often strap a 2gal can here for longer rides but it's always a bit of a mess and slides around a bit.

Looks nice Patrick, would be very quick to mount the can.

Most of the time I carry a fuel container, I find that the rectangular-section rubber bungee straps are great because they grip the surface of the plastic as well as hold it down. Doesn't slip like a fabric strap. And no need to use the bag hook either, just floor hooks like you have.

Traced the sticking throttle to the oil pump, will have to wait till I get my garage back to dig into that.

Also tracked down my lack of lights to the battery. This LiFePo battery has been fantastic until it wasn't. Have a lead acid battery on order to replace it.

well... there's your issue right there, it wasn't a carb problem at all! it was electrical the whole time, and it looks like you fixed it the right way (with a hammer).

hit me if you need any oiler/box parts I have a little stash of bits for the older style.

Been trying to track down the cause of an intermittent throttle sticking at wide open. had replaced the cable, housing, and carb so last place it could be was the oil pump.

There was nothing obviously wrong with the internals of the oil pump but there is this small mark where the lever hits the case at WOT. Gave the lever a small tweak with some pliers so it's now parallel to casting and it does not rub there any more.

Fingers crossed that was the cause.

got the pump back together with a new oring from mcmaster and the airbox reinstalled. setup a short oil line to prime the pump, turning it over a bunch till the oil was showing at the interface to the carb. Installed the carb and turned it over till the oil showed in the venturi.

that's not a bad idea.

I'm getting to my last straw on my German market Rally 200. Running Pinasco ignition (FEMSA type) with CNC flywheel.

I am thinking about going a different direction with a Modified FEMSA Vape from these guys- https://ygrosrace.it/categoria-prodotto/largeframe/accensioni-vape-femsatronic-rally-180-200-ygros-race/

If the vape had been out at the time I would have gone with that. I hate everything about the vespatronic except that it works and the original FEMSA did not. I really miss the stock rally flywheel.

I'm sure it's not what you meant, but I suddenly wondered if you could fit the original Femsa fan to a Vape or Vespatronic flywheel? It would be nice to look stock.

New battery wired up and installed. Using a trickle charger pigtail for the fuse and makes it easier to keep it topped up.

Great idea! Going to do something similar to my GS. I'm running an earthX battery and they last a long time if disconnected. That's an easy way to go, thanks for posting that.

I recently installed a 24/24G on my Rally with an SIP Road 2 exhaust.

120/BE4/125 with a 50-100 idle was perfect at sea level and worked well up to ~8000 ft. max EGT for steady WOT at 70mph was ~1250F.

The Road 2 with the stock carb had a ton of flat spots and was very sensitive to altitude. the 24G with this jetting has fixed all that.

This thread gave me a starting point P200 with a 24/24G T5 carb jetting
