Love to help, but you're going to need to explain this sound more clearly.
And the circumstances under which you hear it. Scoot warm or cold, wet, under power, decelerating,.... Oh, and what does it sound like. Speared walrus, whistling, chirp,.... Feel free to be colorful. ![]() |

Welcome to the site lawnguy.
Please can you tell us how many miles your scooter has done? Are we talking about the GTS300 as shown under your avatar? It's unlikely to be belt squeal. If it was, you would hear the noise at various speeds. Windshield wind noise in the form of a squeal is much more likely. What screen do you have fitted? Large, medium or small? |

ok, it happens warm or cold and only during acceleration and dry conditions and only at speeds between 40 and 45mph. it is a 2016 gts 300 with a full windscreen.

Call me captain obvious. You think maybe if you remove the windshield and the sound is still there. It's not the windshield

my scoot is brand new with 1365 miles and the 600 mile service has been completed by my dealer.however, i believe it is the belt also.they claim it is the windsheild.

When did it start doing it? Right away? What was the mileage when it started if you can remember.

You have ridden the bike without the windscreen. It still makes the squealing noise. You have shown this to your dealer. He still says it is the windscreen. What am I missing?

FWIW, when I'm wearing one of my helmets I hear a sound like a police siren. I know it's the helmet -- but I look around anyway.
![]() And your noise may be in your helmet, but probably not if you've tried changing windshields, or helmets. Again, if you can describe the noise it may give us a clue as to whether it's the belt or something else. 8) |

chirping sound
hey everyone,
I came on here to post about the exact same issue with my new, 2017 GTS 300, which doesn't have the windscreen. it's been happening almost since I got the bike, and it's a quiet (yet still loud enough to be heard at speed) noise that sounds like chirping crickets, repetitive and high pitched, that occurs exactly at 45mph. If I'm leveling out and starting to coast, then accelerating just slightly to keep it at 45 or so, the chirping sound happens until I give it enough gas to move up the ratio. Once I hit 48 or 49, the sound goes. Lately though I've been hearing it at 55-60 when cruising. Took it to the dealer for other services and made a note of it, but I don't think it was addressed at all. Anyone else have any experience with this? It's kind of driving me nuts. |

Do you guys ride passively or aggressively?
It might be worth a couple of hard/flat out acceleration runs and see if that makes any difference. It could be , but may not be that the belt is very slightly glazed or has not yet fully seated onto the pulley halves. |

I've experienced the exact same noise. My GTS300 has only 600 miles on it. I'll deal with it rather than having the dealer tearing the scooter apart and my wind up being worst. I think eventually it'll disapate after the break in period. I'm going to my dealer this week for my first service. Let's see what they say.

I also have a relatively new GTV300 a mine does the exact same thing at the exact same speed. Belt was changed by the dealer on a warranty related transmission issue but it still happens. I read from elsewhere on the forum that this is normal, but if it's not I would be very interested to know! As far as the riding style question mentioned above, I'm fairly aggressive.

Old thread, but I was glad to find it as my 2015 GTS does the same thing at 55-60 mph. Had a dealer listen and he said it was a wind noise.

problem with dealers they like to fob people off with excuses to not work on it unless it was serious
