If there happened to be a performance exhaust for the GTS and GTV, in chrome or black that was offered by Piaggio, an Official Vespa performance exhaust, with a real Piaggio part number, in official Piaggio packaging, Made in Italy, how much interest would there be if it was under $300?

I assume it still would use the graphite bushing, would there be any weight savings? If it was at least a little lighter, and helped any with performance with out lots of noise, I would be interested. Would be nice to see what it looks like on the scooter. Thanks

The stock GTS/V exhaust is pretty long. Something like 18-20" of primary length. You cant see because its tucked up in the boat anchor stock muffler.

This is an original Piaggio accessory, and it fits all GT, GTS and GTV models.

It is very hard to find stock photos of this exhaust mounted, but I did manage to find this of the chrome one:

It's designed for people who aren't riding wheelies on their GTS.... From what the company who made it for Piaggio says, and keep in mind that they say this pipe is for 125, 250 and 300cc GTS models, they did a bit of dyno work in developning it and it is supposedly good for .9 to 2.4 horsepower, depending on the model, etc... Once you put on the Malossi cylinder kit and got used to mods that make a third more horsepower than stock, it's hard to get as excited about one or maybe two...
I read what you wrote about the Polini 6 roller, the variator everyone sort of passes over, and I put one in my GT. I like it. It doesn't have the explosiveness the Malossi has, but it seems to have a better top end. The bike just keeps going until you run out of room. I am seriously considering it for the next Scooter Cannonball, and i got one for OAD and his potential project.

The Polini variator came out better than the Malossi in the Scootering magazine comparison tests, adding 2 hp over the whole range compared to the Malossi's 1-1.5 hp., but that was many years ago, and both variators have changed since then. I believe the 9 roller Polini is vey smooth.

With this being a slip-on system using the existing header, this would still require the graphite exhaust gasket?

Also - any clearance issues with Vespa Rear crashbars?

I like the idea of reducing some of the weight from the back of the bike while using an OEM part at an reasonable price. Speed and performance of the stock bike are fine for my riding style.

I got one, but haven't installed it yet. Waiting until the weather gets above freezing again. Will post some feedback once I have it on there.

I got one of the Polini 6 roller variators and rode with it for a couple of weeks. I was very impressed with the Polini when I put one in a BV250. Then I compared it to the Malossi and a CVT FR4 variator in my Vespa. I used 13 gram weights in each of them, so they would have to work to hit the rev limiter but could spin up into the powerband. In same day back to back testing, 50 miles or so on each, mostly wide open on the freeway, the Malossi was almost 2 mph faster than the CVT FR4, and the Polini was the slowest of all. If you use them with the weights they come with, the Polini would probably do better, because it's got lighter weights, but if you put the same weights in the Malossi, it will perform better. I still like the CVT FR4, but I really expected it to be a lot faster than the Malossi. The other places the Malossi made a difference was in head winds and slight inclines. I didn't drop as much speed as with the Polini.

We had a bout of unseasonably nice weather today, so I took the opportunity to slap the new exhaust on there.

I ride this thing every weekday and most weekends, so I'd like to think I'm familiar with the sounds the scooter makes. Having said that, I can barely pick up the difference in sound between the old exhaust and the new one. The new one is slightly more...throaty? I'm not quite sure how to describe it. At any rate, it's not going to magically make your Vespa sound like a Harley.

In terms of performance, it seems like the scooter is smoother on acceleration, but I might be imagining things. I only took it to the grocery store and back after putting the new exhaust on, so I can't comment on how it performs at higher speeds.

Installation was a cinch, and I say this as someone who's really not mechanically inclined. I didn't time myself, but it probably took less than an hour.

Despite the considerable difference in size, I think we're only talking about a few pounds here. Didn't pick up on any handling changes while I was riding.

Picked my bike up from the shop today with the new exhaust in Chrome installed. The sound to my ears is softer deeper rumbling tone than the original OEM exhaust in my opinion (A lower noise volume is a benefit for me)

I did not notice a performance boost rather a smoother transition when engaging the throttle and releasing the throttle. My bike only has 700 miles so could be with the system reset and the new exhaust the bike feels smoother all the way around.

I can feel the slight weight reduction when placing the bike on the center stand and backing the bike in to my driveway as the I have go up a slight hill backwards and being a woman any addition to make the bike easier for me to maneuver is great benefit.

Note-The exhaust is made by Spark Exhaust Technology manufactured in 2014 from my research for Piaggio to fit the GTS/GTV Vespa as an OEM Piaggio accessory

I am enjoying the new exhaust, sounds great looks great. I am not a speedy rider but did get the scooter up to 75 mph on a straight paved road based on the speedometer. The scooter accelerated very quickly and smoothly with plenty of remaining power and speed available if needed, I did not have the throttle wide open at the time.

Acceleration at take off seems to be much smoother too me and bike easily reaches the speeds I require.

See the attached video for the sound taken after a short ride, the baffle is installed so any that want a louder exhaust you could remove it.

My local dealer was able to have the helmet painted to match my scooter at my request. The brand is a Bitwell Gringo S Limited Edition
