It may be of no concern to many of you who live outside the uk but the later mp3 LT models require a class 3 mot after 3 years if registered as a tricycle.
Not a problem with my last MP3 400 because it was registered as a bicycle.
My current MP3 500 came into that catorgory last week.
But what a problem it was finding a class 3 mot station for a tricycle!
Three found thanks to Mr Google but the first two had discontinued class 3 some time ago.
Third time lucky, I thought!
Booked myself a time and day only to be told on the day "can't do that one, sorry"
After a little discussion and general guidance on how to do the brake test all went well and a pass was achieved.
Has anybody else had the similar problems in the uk.
What is the procedure outside the uk?

AIUI, it costs £2,000+ to get certified for each class of MOT testing - every year. Class 3 vehicles (trikes) are few and far between, so it's not worth most MOT station personnel to get that certification.

This is why my local UK dealer decided not to even sell MP3s. As a PTW MOT station their customers would expect them to be able to MOT the MP3 LTs. Not so.

Agree. Terrible issues even down here in south east london. Found one in Bromley. Trouble is the 2 front wheels don't fit on their rolling road together so they say they can't do an axle brake test.but I'm sure you pointed out that the wheels are actually independent of each other and can be tested one at a time.lucky for us the front suspension is able to cope with such a task.

Farcical over regulation. I was an MOT tester for a relatively short time but was more than happy to give it up because of the constant bickering between customers on one side and over officious bureaucrats on the other. There is a thin line between well meaning practices and the downright dishonest scams sometimes used to impose unnecessary work on customers. Anyone who has had an MOT in the UK will know that there is always one or more 'advisories' even if your vehicle passes the test. What they may not know is that MOT testers are told that they must always find or invent such things to prove that they are doing the work diligently. This is placed on their record as testers. Tacit encouragement of dishonest practices!

For the UK, go to: http://www.ukmot.com/find-an-MOT-Test-Station.asp and enter your postcode in the 'Trike' box.

I sure am glad we don't have to go through these inspections here in the states!

Here in the UK, it is a source of great comfort, knowing that the vehicles thundering alongside you on the roads, for at least one hour of one day each year, were roadworthy.

It's also a great comfort knowing there aren't any hidden safety issues with your own machine. My MOT place noticed my Fuoco rear shock spring seats were split - they could have parted company any time and I'd be lucky to stay on the bike if that happened.
