Hi guys,

I want to make my dream come true and buy my first Vespa. After long seeking I choosed this beautiful Vespa GTV 125cc but I have some doubts.

I am not sure if the color is really original as I have never seen this before what do you think is it original or not?

The seller states that all is in original condition and also that it is limited edition one of 999 pcs of GT60 to 60th anniversary, but I think that they were produced with only 250cc engine not with 125cc and also there is missing the plate with number one of 999 so I think that is non limited GTV 125cc.

Thank you all for info!!!

It's the original colour - but NOT a GT60, which only came in one colour, "1947 prototype gray".

I'll add my comment, if in doubt, which you seem to be, don't.
To be sure, you need to have (from the vehicle) VIN number and serial number, first hand. Good luck.

That doesn't look like an original color. Also, the handlebar switches are painted. I don't remember Piaggio, ever painting the switches...

Really beautiful bike, I love that color, and the minimalist speedometer is so stylish.

I have a similar story as you for why I got a Vespa except it was Rome as a child for me. My friend you'll be glad you got one.

Switches look black to me. Lovely color and it appears the same as the "navy" version linked above.

Nice bike. 4 valve , water cooled, can one day be made quicker quite easily. You could keep it for life?

Check again. And the original color is darker even under light. This blue is too "bright"...

It's impossible to objectively compare real-life colours via digital cameras and computer screens. Neither the camera nor the screen can emulate the range of colour that the human eye can see.

However it would be possible to notice clues as to whether a scooter has been re-painted - and from the limited evidence presented here there are no such clues.

Others have posted links to the dark blue 125 GTV. If you look up some links to photos of that model you will see that the switch housings are painted to match on other colors at the time also. I realize Piaggio does not do that on other models, but there it is. I see no specific indication that the bike has been repainted. A close inspection prior to purchase is always advisable and that may spot things not apparent in photos.

Be careful about buying a Vespa online. Especially when it is not described correctly.

It is a common sales pitch to ask you to pay the Vespa and the carrier in advance an then you will not get a vespa.

Yes U are right! This blue GTV looks sooo nice but I doubt that the seller is solid...

1. It is not 60. anniversary special edition.
2. The seller says that all is totally original but I googled as much as I could and I think that the color is not original (only if Piaggio did some custom painting but that is thing I do not know)
3. I wrote him about more info but he did not responsed...

So I decided to buy another one and I think I was lucky
I bought GTV 125cc from Belgium from very solid guy who gave me all what I asked him for and much much more. He bought this GTV as a new one and he also has all the bills from petrol stations + complete history of insurance, registration and all documents are also comming with the bike.
The bike has only 5400km and looks like a new one and also 3 helmets and charger are included.

By now it is on the way to Czech Republic.

Sounds great!

What I can tell you: The front seat may be a little bit uncomfortable for great people, because it is shorter than on the Vespa GTS.

The transmission of the GTV is about 3 percent shorter, so your GTV wil go 99 km/h while a GTS runs 102 km/h.

You got Sava tyres - the worst tyres ever! You will see this when you change your tyres. But Savas are the initial equipment - I also had Savas ...

Your rear tyre is new, it is a Michelin CityGrip, but your front tyre is a Sava MC20 Monsum - I only saw the front tyre on your first pics.

Yes you are right! I also did not notice do you think that I should replace the front tire for Michelin?

I certainly think so. The Savas are terrible tires in my opinion.

[And for the rest of you - note that the switch covers on the second scooter are painted to match just like on the blue one.
Evidently this was something that was done on some GTVs even though we don't typically see it in the US]

I had my front Sava tyre till it had to be replaced, this was after 10.000 km. My rear Sava tyre had to be replaced after 5.000 km.

I think that you can use your Sava during your learning phase, but when you start to go around curves at high speed, you should replace it.

In my opinion, there are 3 types of GTVs: The high priced GT60, the GTV as a special model with painted switch covers and the normal GTV with black switch covers. But the Vespa GTV Sei Giorni (special model) also has black switch covers ...

The gears of the GTV125 (2007) have 15/46 and 12/44 teeth, the gears of the GTS125 (2007) have 15/46 and 15/53 teeth. (LEADER engine)

I suggest to keep the Vespa garaged.

This happens otherwise:
