And: as a rear-seat passenger in a car involved in a high-ish-speed collision at an intersection, I've known the same fight-or-flight thing this rider experienced: getting the hell out of harm's way (hopefully), literally running on 110% adrenaline. You'll deal with the pain of your assorted injuries later; right now, just being alive is the most amazing thing.
