Hello.

I'm trying to diagnose a lighting issue on my px200e. No lights at all.

The red/white wire than runs from the C on the regulator has power to the front when the key is in the on position letting you use the horn and starter.

What runs the lights?

Is it straight from the stator?

Just trying to trace where it might have gone array.

Cheers

Chris

Have you checked the fuse that's located next to the battery? Last week I had a similar issue...the fuse and spade connectors were both corroded so my lights didn't work.

Lights are AC powered. Blue is the feed from the stator to the regulator. You should measure first, if the stator gets you up to 80V AC between blue and black (earth) at the regulator side (disconnect the blue wire). If this is OK, then check the voltage on the grey/green wire (connected on the regulator) wire and black (earth). You should be getting up to 14V AC (regulated)...

Check these first and let us know...

Ok,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Not the fuse or the connectors.

Did some testing of the stator and surrounds.

So the blue wire from the stator. (In my case yellow on the flytech) runs around 20v AC (when revved) Same going into the regulator via the blue wire.

What comes out of the green wire and grey wire going into the G on the regulator is while connected not much 0.03 AC. But if I disconnect those wires and connect the multi to that G Tab I get regulated 14v.

Hope that makes sense.

I'll add a few pictures of the readings. Hopefully you can see what I mean.

I have tried a different regulator and stator. No difference.

Blue wire

8.5 AC (side note starts at 8.5 revs to 20 AC a flytech trait)

OK. Don't know how much voltage should the Flytech put out, but seems OK. First of, proper blue wire position is the yellow dot on the regulator you have. The grey/green wire should go on the grey dot. Although a technicality. Having your voltage drop when the grey wire is connected, means that you probably have a short somewhere. First thing to check, is the indicator flasher, next to the regulator (green box). Disconnect the green wire and see if anything changes. If again no lights, next is the protection relay starter (small red box), behind the horn cover. Disconnect the grey wire and see if it makes a difference...

Ok.

We got success.

Grey wire had a short.

Every time I put the grey/green wire in the regulator the voltage on both the blue wire and green wire would drop.

I ended up running a wire from the grey/green spot on the regulator straight to the grey wire at the front.

Then all the lights came on.

Geez what a mission

You should find the short and not circumvent it. Running a new wire, will result on losing turn signals and brake light. Try eliminating possible culprits, like the indicator relay and continue from there...

Ok so I'm pretty certain the short was somewhere in the tunnel definitely on the grey wire.

I used the continuity test on that grey wire unplugged from the regulator to the frame and it beeped.

Anyway all I did was run new gear and clutch cables inner and outer.

I was able to just put the green cable in with my newly run cable to the regulator so I have indicators but as you say no rear brake light.

Actually no rear light. But that could just be the globe.

There is an extra gray wire that I'll have a look at tomorrow.

I mean if you know exactly why I have no rear brake light I'm all ears.

But thanks regardless. I'm not in the dark anymore. Literally

A new clue . New cables. Did your old gear cables have the copper piece that keeps them together?? If yes, there's a chance you hit the grey wire at the brake light switch. Take out the footbrake and inspect the wire there...

Or there's a chance it just got unplugged from the brake light switch and it's touching the frame...
