To upgrade the output on a 6V stator to 12V, you get a conversion where the two lighting coils are changed. However, on some 6V stators I found that the ignition coil is linked to one of the lighting coils. I normally cut the connection and short the ignition coil and everything works fine.
Why is the ignition coil linked to the lighting coil on the old 6V stators? Do I now get a weaker spark now that the connection has been cut?
