I am having some backfiring issues at WOT. I am assuming it is a timing issue or the condenser. I need to pull the flywheel was wondering if someone could give me a link to the tool needed? and any tips on what not to do when pulling them. Little nervous but it seems like my only option right now. It is a 1965 Allstate.

The Allstates are pretty much like the VNA/VNB Vespas. There should be a circlip on top of the flywheel nut. As you remove the nut, it will pop the flywheel off of the tapered shaft.

You shouldn't if the circlip is still in place. Sometimes people remove them. Check out this link....

You'll need to hold the flywheel somehow. There are special tools available for that, or you can get crafty and use some nylon rope down the spark plug hole to stop the piston.

I had an aftermarket fly on my 65 VLB1 it does not have a cir clip like stock. I needed a tool to pull it out. it threads into id of fly and you tighten bolt in center to pull out fly. Bought it at Scooterwest. com

If the flywheel has been on there a long time good and tight, it might not pop off so easy. Sometimes it's on so tight that the circlip pops out instead of the flywheel. I've had good luck with stubborn ones doing this:

First remove the circlip and nut/washer then a little penetrant on the shaft.
Now clean the groove and stretch the circlip a bit so it's tight in the groove with the sharp edge OUT & nut back in place.
Some gentle heat with a hot air gun on the FW hub can help.
Use an offset box end wrench on the nut and if the circlip starts to deform, I leave it under load and use a centerpunch & small steel hammer to give a sharp tap in the centerdrilled hole at the end of the shaft as I slowly tighten the wrench which usually pops the FW loose.
