Hi Guys,

My name is Ferry and I'm from Amsterdam. I've been browsing the forum for some time now and thought I would post a question.

I own a Vespa Primavera 50 2V. In Amsterdam if you have a scoot that goes 25kph you get a blue licenseplate and can go on the bikelane without a helmet, which is awesome. Needless to say mine goes 55 and I drive like a maniac.
Which brings me to my question;
What suspension would be best for my setup?
- I drive over pretty mixed roads. Sometimes smooth, sometimes pretty shitty. Mostly I have a lot of speedbumps.The thing bothering me most is when I'm maxxing the Vep over speedbumps it just smashes the suspension. It's the worst when I have a passenger on the back, wich is probably 50% of the time.
- I like speeding through corners and really enjoying the ride,
that's why I'm in need for some good shocks.
- I don't like it to be to stiff. Cause the seat is allready like a brick in comparison to the LX.
- Full adjustabilty would be nice, I like to fiddle with it.

I have searched al over the web and came to the conclusion that for some good shocks it will be around EUR500+. For spending that kind of money I'd like to be sure it works.

I've seen ;
Bitubo,
YSS,
Zelioni,
Ohlins,
Malossi.

Usually Ohlins are great on motorcycles, but what do you guys think? Though I don't know if they have shocks for the Primavera50. I've only seen them for 125/150.

Also, what is the best price/quality deal?

PS: I take good care of my Vespa, I do all my maintanance on my own and treat it very well, even though I ride it like I stole it.

Ive just fitted YSS shocks on my LX which I'm loving.
Only have Spring preload adjustment so sag/ride height is my only adjustment but they are lush.
Although I only drive on roads, with all the pot holes you don't go very many meters before plunging in and out of something lol.

I also got a Rear shock that was 25mm taller but still a direct bolt on fit.
2 reasons, to stop my Malossi exhaust touching the frame and cause I'm tall.

Both well below your budget but am very pleased with them.

some generics off ebay.
Ohlins tends to be priced like "Gold" hence the "Gohlins" nickname.
BiTubo makes nice stuff.
Malossi too.

Lets face facts here... you are not going to be running qualifying tires or pace so twisting clickers isnt going to do much. You can make it ride "plusher" than the pogo sticks that come stock. Get a shock in the proper spring range with some rebound adjustment.

For the money, Malossi shocks are hard to beat. Carbone is decent for the price. If you have Ohlins money to spend on shocks, check out Mupo, they do the new race shocks for Polini.

Another vote for Malossi here. Stock shocks aren't very good IMHO.

I have the Malossi shock front and rear on my GTS, and they have been very good.

I believe I read somewhere that Paoli actually makes these for Malossi.
