Well, after somewhere near 20k miles, the belt on my CVT blew. Yes, I know I should have replaced it sooner but keep in mind, I'm cheap and have the mechanical capabilities of a thumbless chimpanzee.

I bought a new Maollosi kit to install since I wanted to add more zip to my little green monster, and have torn open the case, plan to paint it with...something.

Whats bothering me right now is a O-Ring that attaches to the finned portion of the variator. Its not mentioned in the Haynes manual, nor in the videos I've watched (darn you Robot, you let me down with your flashy new GTS's).

See attached picture. How mission critical is this O-ring (since it doesn't seem to warrant mention in replacement walkthroughs) and if I really need it, where can I get one?

20,000 miles on one belt? That must be close to a record. You must be very gentle on the scooter.

The o ring is not required, but I understand it is there to dampen vibration. I always replace them when needed.

You have another problem that I see in the photograph. The outer drive pulley should have splines in the inner hole that fits around the splines on the crankshaft.

New outer drive pulleys are not expensive, less than $30. The O ring is also inexpensive.

Replace both.

The O-ring is very important. Leave it out and see why.
You definitely need an outer pulley.

That sounds like a challenge!

Since I keep ordering stuff from your store, do you have a link to the O ring? And the other one that sits on the outer puller that has all the teeth. Its a little rusty. Probably should be pretty when I put all new in. I can't find either @ scooterpartsco and you guys are closest to me so I usually order from you.
