I went to start my PX 150 today and the electric starter made not even the slightest sound. The kick starter worked on the third kick. On my way home I went to start it up and the electric starter did nothing. Kick starter worked on the first kick. Everything seemed to work well while riding.

I assume the starter has gone bad or become disconnected. Is this easy to fix or replace? Should I just go with the kick starter? Obviously it would be nice to have the electric starter up and running. Thanks in advance.

Bust out the voltmeter and do a bit of testing.

Figure out how to bypass the starter relay w/ a stout momentary connection across the two fat terminals - if the starter motor now spins, you could have a bad connection somewhere but may need a new relay. You should also make sure you have 'hot' on one of the two heavy connections on the relay. The relay should activate audibly if you run a 'hot' jumper wire to the small terminal on the relay. A dead starter motor is fairly easy to replace, just not cheap. I just use the kick starter on my Cosa.

12v auto tester. It's probably either a loose connection, the relay, or the button, probably in that order.

What the previous gentlemen suggested and also the clutch micro switch or the protection relay starter behind the horn cover...

Wow, that's embarrassing! I keep the PX on a battery tender and the light was green when I took off. Today I took it out and made a stop. On the way back I tried the electric starter and it didn't work but it tried, unlike the other times. The battery tender today was on red and the starter tried and the starter did nothing when it was on green. So I didn't suspect the battery but now I'm pretty sure that's the issue. Kind of like fixing all computer problems by turning it off - way too simple. Thanks to all! Again, very embarrassed!
