I recently bought a used but in near mint condition Givi B33 case with mounting plate for $140 shipped. I thought it was a much better option than the $600+ Vespa color matched box from the dealer even if I have to go out and buy a solid mounting rack.

Once I got it in the mail today, I took my HJC FG-Jet and placed it inside the box to make sure that it fits. The only issue I have is that the inside of the box is not lined with anything which makes whatever item inside slide around.

I was wondering if any of you had lined your top cases and to find out what product/liner you used. I was looking at Reflectix Insulation roll from Home Depot as it will pad the inside of the case and insulate it so that my take out food will stay warm/cold longer and my pets would stay warm when I travel with them...

Rubber mats, tried em. Stuff gets under them and slideroo.

Those waffle-y rubber shelf liners, nope. They get gummy and sticky.

Foam, works but is a space waster.

I'm going to try that spray-on "truckbed liner" in a can.

Is the spray permanent? or can I peel that off if it sucks?

I'm a fan of newspaper.

I usually use a Patagonia 40L (or 38, I forget) backpack I put things in and then put that in the top case. Works well though it is the Vespa OEM case.

Put an old hand towel in there. It will help stop things sliding about, you can dry your scooter with it, and you can throw it into the washing machine when it becomes soiled.

I put my helmet in the cloth bag it came in. But I like the idea of lining my Givi, hope you find something that works!

Like bigcanoe I use the cloth bag the helmet came in. That and Raputtak's towel suggestion would be a good combination. I'll be throwing the towel in now for sure.

I put a few cloth grocery bags in the bottom of my case. Doesn't keep things from sliding completely, but the bags are useful at my destination.

When I got the scooter (and the top case) it had shag carpeting glued to the bottom, so whatever I did was going to be an improvement.

I wouldn't try to insulate the case, unless you're going to put a steaming hunk of brisket inside.

Go to a fabric store and see if they have any neoprene. Cut to fit and use double sided tape to secure in place.

Old beach towel. Cheap and cheerful. Douglas Adams taught me that a towel is the most universally useful thing in the world. The answer to the meaning of life is 42 btw.

Try and get heat-resistant tape.

My TC came with the stop/turn light installed. The wiring was held in place with those self-adhesive wire holder thingies. First time out in the hot Carolina sun on the black plastic case and all the adhesive gave way. I bought a roll of heat-resistant tape, taped the wires securely in place and have not had a problem since.

Mine was not double-sided.

Use this toolbox liner from HF: https://www.harborfreight.com/solid-nonslip-drawer-liner-65565.html#reviews Get a small can of 3m spray adhesive from Home Depot. If you only coat one surface, it will stay in place, but can be removed down the road. Coat both the box and the liner, and you will have to remove it with a razor blade one inch at a time.

Use some black plastidip. About $5 a can at Walmart and is easily removable. Unfortunately it won't insulate.

Awesome suggestions. Being an engineer, I think I was overthinking this whole thing when I too was considering lining with pads, insulatiing foam, Dynamat and rhino lining spray when all along the towel suggestion is what I was lookin for. I'm really glad I can get second, third and sometimes twentieth opinions to knock the cob webs loose. 🙏🏽

I ordered my top case from easyparts.nl for a whole lot less than what you are taking about. Next time check with them first. I really like the paint matched to the scooter color. All top cases will have the same sliding around issue. +1 for buying a roll of non-stick lining, thin foam type stuff for what you put your dishes on from someplace like WalMart or Michaels and then cutting it to fit the bottom of your top case.

Was this the same vendor that shipped a box to you with missing mounting parts???😉

The price quoted was from our local dealer here in Toronto. As per my original statement, I ended up sticking to the Givi B33 that I got used for $125CDN. It was clean, trusted brand, had the backrest and shipped for that price. Plus it mounted easily and can be removed like a luggage if I need to switch it to my other bikes.

Use a micro fiber towel. You canbuy a pack of them at auto parts ir hardware stores or maybe walmart. One side is usually nonslip. I use one on the bottom and a second for padding if necessary inmy 40 liter piaggio case.

Grippy Shelf Liner
I have a similar issue with a similar Givi top box. Things sliding around are not fun, especially jars of spaghetti sauce. I just recently moved into my condo, and used some of that grippy shelf liner cut to size. Seems to work well enough, things have not been sliding around too much after that. Now if they only make it in a black or gray. I currently have the beige inside the top box.

I use a towel inside mine, but if you want something like the shelf liner in a black or gray, check with any place that sells tool mats (Sears, Harbor Freight). They are designed to keep what you are working on from sliding (like working on wood with a router). That should do what you want, with the look you desire. A bit thicker than non-skid shelf liner, but a similar idea.

i cut up a 'floor mat' grade carpet to fit to form. i like the fact that i can tuck my registration papers underneath and know they're not going anywhere.
