Thanks for the replies. I painted it all myself. Preperation was/is quite easy as there was no damage to repair. So all parts got a good steam clean. Then rubbed with a scotch pad. Primed (red primer) then at least 5 coats of Sunburst Red. I used spray/rattle cans. I then left it for a few weeks, flattened it with 2000 paper and finished off with T cut rubbing compound. I did a big scooter run today and folk were asking where I got is sprayed ... so the end result looks pretty good.
The rear carrier was chopped down and stainless plate screwed in to hid the holes. I think it makes the scoot look slicker/racier
Scorpion pipe makes little difference to performance but it looks and sounds good
The holes left over from the mirror were the most thought provoking. I ended up using epoxy modeling clay called Miliiput in the UK. It was molded into shape onto the existing covers. Then filed and sanded until it looked ok. I don't like this in red and will probably make it blue one day.
The George cross seat was on the scoot when I first got it. Was gonna change it but it's grown on me so it stays now.
In the picture you can see me 'poor mans' bar end mirror. It consists of a simple bracket behind the barend and a spare mirror chopped and rethreaded to fit. It really is the biz, but I'm on the look out for a smaller round mirror.
There's another project coming up soon. More on that later.
Hope you like it
