I am a previous owner of the BMW C650 Sport Scooter. Fantastic Machine, but...... the labor charges alone for final drive service were extremely high. Sold it and bailed out before it got to that point. Now I have a Vespa.

The Xmax is 292cc, 27.6 horsepower. I rode it before she bought it - plenty of power; definitely pulls harder and faster than my GTS. Size-wise, it feels much bigger. The wheelbase is about 6" longer than the GTS and the front fairing is wider. Weighs about 50 pounds more, as well.

Joan really enjoys riding the curvy back roads, and her initial impression is this Xmax takes a bit more effort than the PCX. As she gets used to the new scoot, I think she will find it even more fun. Highway riding (just eating up miles) isn't something we do much of these days.

Happy with XMAX
Still enjoy riding the xmax and it is definitely comfortable and fast. Bigger wheels make for a comfortable ride. Thinking of ordering some accessories from Europe that are not available stateside...

Anyone know if the XMAX know if the accessories that they make for the european XMAX are the same as the US xmax? I want to change my seat and the comfort seat is available in Europe!

It is because it has larger diameter wheels and wider tires ...
So the engine is a Blue Core?

With certainty I do not know but they should be the same, however any clarification that I have tried on accessories was enough to send an email to Yamaha Customer Service and they have always answered me.

The European comfort Seat, Backrest, and USB phone holder all work well with USA XMAX300.

The comfort seat still needs to be broken in a little so that it closes without pushing on it as hard.

would you use regular oil for the first service to give it a good break-in or go directly to synthetic? 600 Mile first service.
It doesn't make a difference. The idea that you get a "better" break in from using non-synthetic oil in a modern engine is one of those half baked ideas that still makes the rounds of the internet by people who heard it somewhere, and really can't tell you what is measurably better about breaking in an engine with non-synthetic oil. If there were oil threads on 4chan, this is the sort of information you would get.
i thought the reason for running conventional oil before synthetic was for the piston rings to seat properly...but i'm not mechanic...

...not related but i can tell you i drive a '13 subaru legacy that has always been run with 0w-20 full synthetic which is what the owners manual says to run and the car has been consuming (not burning) oil for quite a while...there was a class action lawsuit about this issue but the settlement didn't help me due to my mileage (over 158k miles now) and have to keep 3-4 extra quarts in my trunk...when the light comes on i dump a quart in...consuming about 3 quarts every 7500 miles...not sure why i even change the oil anymore

Regarding the premature wear of the mechanical parts due to the lubricating oil, especially on cars. When a vehicle is often used for short journeys there is an excessive descent of gasoline, through the sealing segments, towards the oil sump; this causes a dilution of the lubricant and decreases its effect. The more the engine has miles, the greater the amount of fuel that dilutes the engine oil. In the case of engines with low density oils the problem gets worse, even if a certain gradation is recommended it should be raised ... example: an engine that uses 0 - w 30 change to a 10 - w 40 and change the lubricant more often.

I'd go with the XMAX. More accessories available, Better all around scooter. Great parts availability. My XMAX got stolen two months ago, I replaced it with a BV350. I till miss the XMAX. The XMAX is an all around better bike. I have owned a Vespa GT before, my impression is the XMAS is better equipped tool.

If you knew how good my Tricity 155 is with the Blue Core engine ... a little gem.

Did you have an aftermarket exhaust? did it need tuning after install?
