Hi,

I have two Vespas a 2013 S150 i.e and a 2015 GTS300 Supersport.

I've always struggled with overfilling. The other day, the clip on the pump got stuck to down. UGH gas went everywhere.. Then the next day she didn't want to start and was stalling at low rpm. Seems ok now though.. But still always a little nerve wrecking when your bike is acting funny. Its stressful !

I'm done with this evap crap... I just want to pull the evaps out of both bikes and never worry about an overfill again.

Being that both are fuel injection, i just want to make sure i'm not going to do anything dumb.. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but like to have a go ! however i always seem to learn after the fact i've made a mistake. lol

I know there will be a pipe coming from the fuel tank. Where all the problems start. I'll route that so fuel has somewhere to go, in the event of the next overfill. I know there will be another one or even possibly two going to the intake / fuel injector which will need to be plugged, and one filtered. The rest pull out and pitch with a smile on my face.

I don't know if both bikes evaps will be similar. probably would be my guess. The 300 is less than a week old ! Anyway, is there a guide out there for me to follow, so i don't make any dumb mistakes ?

Any tips and advice appreciated before i go in and make a mess of things. ha!

Please don't remove the systems. They are there to reduce pollution for those of us with sensitive respiratory systems.
I was in Taiwan a few weeks ago and can attest to the pollution that our little scooters can create. They are already given a substantial break in regulations compared to automobiles.

There are a couple of write-ups in our wiki but they aren't for FI engines. If your canisters are loaded with gasoline, you could drain them out and clean your air filters. That should help.

Also review the wiki tips to avoid overfilling. Always remember, handle over the hole and a light touch on the trigger. Don't fill to the brim. Hope it all works out for you.

Correct, i need something for an FI. Some pumps are horrible.. They're like firehoses ! I think all of us with Vespa's try and give the lightest possible touch. But no matter how careful you are, it really is inevitable.

Sorry but they've gotta go !

for what it's worth, the evap system is there to deal with overfills and gas vapors, and does VERY little to reduce pollution. The majority of pollution reduction is being handled by catalytics in the exhaust. Also, our 4-stroke bikes are much less harmful than the 2-stroke gas/oil bikes prevalent everywhere around the world.

Keep in mind that if you get rid of the evap system, all that gas that goes into the canisters when you try to top it off still runs out the hose in the side of the tank, because that's the vent for the gas, and if you're not paying attention, ends up on your shoes and clothing.

SCTLVR: Governments around the world burn millions (if not billions) of gallons of fuel fighting needless wars over religious differences, and the burden of global pollution falls to scooter riders who want to remove a largely ineffective, bureaucratically demanded, charcoal canister. I think that your priorities are somewhat misguided.
The pollution that is emitted from a scooter missing it's canister and burning 100-200 gallons in it's lifetime is infinitesimal to what a power plant emits in a day so that you can watch a movie on Netflix in air-conditioned comfort. I'm sure that you feel better showing everyone how much you care about the environment, but I don't feel thedoc46 is the problem. In fact, when the canister becomes saturated with fuel and sends charcoal through the fuel system, the manufacturing/installation of a new canister probably results in more pollution than all the canisters in history of Vespa ever saved.
