2013 model
13,000 miles
Black
Never been wrecked or laid down
No rust
Couple of very minor paint dings
Floormats are only added accessory
Good acceleration, runs smooth and strong, runs very nice
Clean title and scoot was recently gone over by a dealership with no issues found.

Any ideas what a fair price for this scoot would be?

the way these threads usually work out is that if someone owns the same bike, a fair price is about 5K. If you saw it at a dealership for $2200, it's worth $800.

IIRC the "list price" for a BV 350 in 2013 was about $4600. There was one in the shop when I bought my 300 GTS and the Vespa was more expensive. As you read the posts here, there was some trouble with the early BV 350's regarding "freeze plugs" and spark plug caps. I'm assuming the dealer's review of the bike has checked/fixed those possible issues. The 2013 models also didn't, again IIRC, have ABS or ASR if those are important to you.

As for fair price --- you now know the original "new" list price. But the "fair" price on a used scoot, especially something as relatively rare as a BV 350 will be difficult to ascertain.. I would do some web searching to get a feel for the asking price on used BV 350's around the country.

Agree. But the dealers here will say "whatever the dealer is asking" and then throw in a few dollars over that since they have operating costs..... Razz emoticon

Why would you buy from a dealer if you are buying used. I buy used to aviod dealer mark up and get a better price.

Dealers make their money off used vehicle because you can't look up and see what he paid for it.

Not buying used from a dealer. We would push people to used cars because we could make money off them as apposed to new cars.

I think $3500 is a pipe dream in fly-over country. The coasts - maybe.

I have one in the garage and would happily sell for $2500.

The real high numbers quoted here are "asking, not getting" numbers by people who already own the bike and want it to hold it's value. Realistically I think you are in the ballpark. It's a four year old bike with very little dealer support and not much demand. 1800-2600 is probably where they are really trading at, depending on condition, even on the coasts.

Pretty sure he's making a joke, not actually looking to buy a used bike from the dealership.

Dealers generally dont need to mark up used bikes much since they murder the customer on trade in/acquisition value.
Case in point... I bought a 12 year old gsxr in pretty good shape from a local dealership for $1,400 (plus sales tax).
The bike was a couple years outside their "10 year model rule" and they didnt want to put tires, battery, or a basic service into it. About 5 hundred in parts & a few hours of my time made it the perfect project. This was a bike with only 9,000 original miles and it still had the original stock front tire on it!
About 1/2 way through the project I brought it to another dealership to have the master cylinder recall done on it. Because the first dealership missed that lil $300 Suzuki service gem.

but what did the dealer pay for it? $500 because they deduced all the stuff that needed done to it and tacked their labor costs on top as well to devalue the bike down . So if they bought it on trade in fro $500 they stuck you for $700 profit to them.
No dealer pays retail for any trade period, they get the trade value rock bottom and then cut it again.

did you read my post? Tell me what the current book value is on a 2006 GSXR 1000 with 9500 miles. Id bet the book is near $5,000.
Who cares if they made $700 profit off me? Im into a 2006 GSXR 1000 in near mint condition now for $2000.
Guess it offsets the other 3 I have over $60,000 (di)invested in...lol

FWIW, I just sold a 2013 with 450 miles on it for $3600. I did the first service before the sale and it had a top case and heated grips as well. I think the low mileage made it more sellable than one with 10K+ miles probably.

If Turboblew perceived his purchase as a deal in his favor, who cares how much the dealer made on it?

One of the reasons dealerships exist is to earn a profit. If they can't profit, they'll close down.

Why did I buy my 2013 BV 350 from the dealership? A few reasons:

They are convenient to me (literally right next door to work).
They give me great service. When the freeze plug corroded out, they convinced Piaggio to cover the cost of the part. They (the dealer) covered the cost of the labor. They even gave me a loaner scooter so that I could still commute to/from work. All on an out-of-warranty, 3-year old (at that time) scooter. Had I bought from a private party, I probably would have had to pay at least the labor, and there's no way I'd have gotten a loaner.
They gave me a fair trade-in price on it when I bought a new 2017 BV 350 from them last month. They gave me just below Bluebook value, but it was having starting issues, and would stall out in the rain, so they're going to have to put some work into it to make it sellable.
If we don't support the dealers, they will go away. Not everyone has the skills/tools/facility/desire to do their own work. I'd rather take my BV to a dealer with a trained mechanic who is familiar with Piaggio than to some random mechanic who may not know the idiosyncrasies involved.

I just bought mine from the local dealer. 2013, 10,400 miles, black excellent condition. The shop had done all the work on it since purchase. Seller was doing a consignment. Wanted 3600.00, dropped the price to 3000.00 and I bought it.

Bike is like new. I actually drove a new 2017 and 2018. Hated the new seats. The new bikes were 7000.00 plus. I felt like it was a fair deal.

Just to clarify, this bike is not owned by a dealership, it's owned by an inidividual.

I'm only interested in what a fair price is for the scoot, nothing tangential. Thanks.

I always start with NADA estimates when available. Certainly some things can skew NADA and Kelley Bluebook estimates but it is usually an objective place to start. NADA lists the average retail for this scooter as $2,495 and low retail as $1,895. Sounds reasonable to me.
