I have been seeing these advertised as of late, anyone try them yet ?
I typically use the NGK CR7EKB or CR8EKB depending on which bike, priced very good on Amazon.com
Thanks,
Keith

I just read the technology page at E3/Diamondfire, and as an engineer trained in plasma physics, I have a comment or two:
Lot of verbage about controlled flame front is pretty much hooey. With multiple points of initiation of spark and the chaotic nature of the mixture and the motion of gasses in a combustion chamber, the Diamondfire plug will be no better at creating a consistent ignition point than your bog-standard plug, and considerably worse than an iridium plug with its tiny center electrode. That being said, the huge size of the ground electrode will likely take longer to erode, making it last longer than a standard plug. But I just buy iridium plugs once every 50,000 miles, and they would probably last 100,000. I don't have any motivation to try a different plug and monitor its lifespan when I have a perfectly adequate solution for the spark plug longevity problem right now. If it is a problem. |

go ahead and installed I say. be the guinea. I'll stick with known and proven NGK's or ND's.

Or Brisk
Then in the '60's and '70's there were the ones with the three holes where a jets of flame would ignite the main charge. You'd have to go to a spark plug museum to find those? Now in F1 called strangely Turbulent Jet Ignition. I think these things come along every generation because the existing generation have never seen anything like it. The concept must be really good because E3 website metions nothing about the electrode design. Or if they do it is buried in the website basement. here's another ? Or ![]() Or Model T one's ![]() Prototype E3? ![]() It's slow day. Spark plugs are cheap and if the heat range is correct then use anything you want.

I do have OCD moments.
Here is an example of flame jet plugs i was alluding to. Not exactly the ones i remember but... Edit: They are called pre-chamber spark plugs. For other OCD types On closer examination E3 plugs have three legs supporting but only two actual "gaps". Unless there is some hi-tech purpose of the square-ish hole in the centre. The "3" in the E3 has nothing to do with the number of electrodes. |

Iridium plugs made a great difference to my bike, the idle is much smoother! Couldn't recommend them more highly!

Iridium is a material like Platinum is a material. Iridium spark plugs are the same design as other plugs just made with Iridium to improve resistance to erosion.
Scooter might idle better now but it is not because the spark plugs are made with Iridium. The plug will however last longer between changes. Which is important to for vehicle manufacturers to meet their emission requirements and to allow them to offer extended intervals between service or if the plugs are in a location which requires additional labour to replace them, |

To be honest, I can't see why a simple change of spark plug would make so much difference either. But it did.
Thinking about it, there's nothing stopping me getting a pair of standard (non iridium) new plugs, fitting them and seeing what happens then. Perhaps there was something slightly wrong with the old plugs. |
