Either my search-fu is very weak or this really hasn't been discussed yet.

Haven't taken delivery of my wife's 2018 GTS 300 Touring yet, but one thing that stuck with me when we were at the dealership looking was how gorgeous the seats are. I know there's a little seat-cover built-in to the underside of the saddle. But I know my wife...she'll be great about using that cover for about a week then it will never see the light of day again.

Are there any recommendations for good (won't discolor/harm the seat) spray-on/wipe-on/rub-on UV-protectants that won't turn the seat into a "greased-pole"?

Typical 3 times per week use-case I envision for my wife's Vespa:
    - Organizes/packs the 100 pounds of gear necessary for teaching little ankle-biters how to dance
    - Loads gear onto scooter
    - Rides to Rec center and parks in the middle of the lot with no trees/shade
    - Removes all gear from scooter
    - Has hands full so forgets or decides not to use the underseat cover to keep the sun from eating the seat
    - Carries (juggles) all the gear in one trip into the Rec center for class
    - Scooter seat bakes unprotected in the direct sun for 6 hours

AFAIK, by their very nature, all protectants will make the seat slippery, not a good thing.

My recommendation is to retrain the wife. (let me know how that works out for you)

Buy a replacement seat with a gel pad build in. The first time she leaves it in the sun without covering it will be the last time and you won't have to say a word...

Hahahahaha!!! I might not be the brightest LED on the scooter, but I know enough not to fall for that!

I learned my lesson 19 years ago with snickerdoodles. The wife asked me if her latest batch tasted okay and if I had any suggestions for improvements. Silly me in my arrogance of youth proceeded to suggest how her prize christmas cookie could be better. There was a snickerdoodle drought in our household that lasted just about 11 years.

I did a search on Coolass covers as per your suggestion, thanks! Looks like a nifty cover, but suffers the same fault as the underseat cover that comes with the scoot...i.e, relying on the wife, with arms full, to put it on each time. Good to have another option though!

I'm not familiar with gel pads in seating of the effect of direct sunlight on such. Any humorous anecdotes by way of funny youtube links you'd care to share on the subject? I need something funny to wash these two-day-old lunch leftovers down with! Clown emoticon

I use the seat cover that came with the scoot while it's parked outside of the office. Also, the top case has a leather back rest. Found a shower cap fits perfectly over it.

My first ride, the LX 150 I didn't cover the seat and it wound up getting dry and cracked. Hard lesson learned and attempting to remedy that with this new ride.
