Ok, I just finished 4,000 miles in 21 days on Fred (GTS300) from FLA to SFO.
A great time and a great ride with almost perfect weather. To much to post and write about here so you can go to the blog and I am putting up a slide show here.
The blog is here: https://2018scooter.blogspot.com/p/we.html

I flew home and this weekend I will be driving back to California with a trailer load of scooters for the Cannonball. I am not riding this year but driving the Scooter Conestoga in support. I will try to post here.

After that 8,000 mile round trip I will fly back to California, get Fred out of the closet and ride back to FLA. I will post a little here but mainly it will be in the blog that I will post here later.

Now here is some pictures of the westward trip.

Thank you gentlemen for you kind words. Glad you are riding along with me. This year, even after the dashes across country, there is more to come!

Just read through your entire blog - and it was insanely entertaining! Thank you for sharing it here - and for the oodles of cool photos you incorporated. It sounds like a memorable trip!

Just have one minor question - in one or two photos, it looks like you have (or are wearing) a Nolan N44 Helmet - is that correct?

I'm only asking because I converted to an N44 several years ago, after years of a heavier and quieter Schuberth - both of which are fine helmets for eyeglasses wearers. Wearing the Schuberth was a little like wearing an insulated Cadillac limousine on my head - oh so quiet and comfortable - but the visibility was a tad on the limited side, to say the least. My N44 (which is a electric-dayglo-orange (and probably visible in orbiting satellite photographs) has amazing visibility - especially laterally - kind of like riding with a huge, comfortable ultra-wide fishbowl atop my craniuim which allows me to see much, much more than the Schuberth ever did. The downside is more wind and road noise, but so far it's been a more-than-acceptable tradeoff for me.

Thanks again for your post!

Yes it is a Nolan. I have had several. One that I took a nose dive over the handle bars on a Cannonball and it saved my face. I like it because it is more comfortable on my fat face. It is noisy with my mid-screen, but I am willing to compromise for the comfort. I have to have ear plugs in to make it comfortable. I tried other modular helmets but have come back to the Nolan.

Lets see...today I dug holes, put up shelves, etc. etc. etc. on the honey do list so I can leave again.

Oh yea, and I bought a MP3 from a friend. That story will come if I ever find time to go to Pittsburgh to pick it ups.

Fascinating SANE journeys! I noticed a GPS on your mirror stem. Which one is it and what mount did you use? What do you recommend?
