Tired of an aching butt after 30-50 mile rides. Not exactly ready to swap out seats on my 2016 GTS 300, but eagerly wanting a slip-on gel seat cover or pad. Anyone know if such a thing is available? I checked the Scooter West site and was unable to find anything except an actual gel seat to swap out.

Any help (and links) appreciated!

Stores or online retailers that have motorcycle gear will have gel or sheepskin pads. However, I'd highly recommend an Airhawk cushion. They don't get hot like gel and they dry quickly if they get rained on. I wouldn't take any long trips without mine.

Will definitely look into these. Thanks!

I'll also recommend the Airhawk. I have the Cruiser medium that fits the standard GTS very nicely.

I have done back to back 300 mile days without major pain. It does take a bit of getting used to. I initially felt a bit "disconnected", but you do get used to it.

Useful tip - You don't put very much air into the Airhawk. You want to almost bottom-out so that you sink into the cushion.

Another vote for the Airhawk. Used mine in my Ironbutt ride. I could have done another 500 miles easy with no discomfort.

If you want I'll let you borrow it to see if it works for you.

the standard air hawk is fine but the Airhawk R is the best. has a special section just for your tail bone. its worth the little bit extra IMO.

I've got the gel solo seat on my bike, and it is extremely comfortable, but it gets unbearably hot if you park it in direct sunlight in the Summer. And the heat stays in the gel for a long time.
I got an aqua-aire pad, which is similar to the airhawk, but uses water and air, and is about half the price. I've done two Cannonballs on it, and it's very comfortable.
http://www.aquaaireseatcushion.com/ is their site.

I use an Alaska Buttpad sheepskin cover on the seat of my GTS. Works great for me.

Modified AirHawk R
I use an AirHawk R, modified by the insertion of some sheepskin, as described on this page of my cross-country blog: http://singlecylinderpsyche.com/the-things-i-carried/. The AirHawk by itself did not work well for me.

I have an airhawk, and a sheepskin. The airhawk is nice, but the sheepskin is superduper nice.

Seriously though, the light color, and deep pile make for a nice cool setting. Airflow 'down there' is a good thing, too. I guess at some point I'll have to try the sheepskin on top of the airhawk.

I have an airhawk and a sheepskin though I use neither on my GTS. Absolutely mandatory on the BV 500 though. For me the airhawk wins with just the smallest amount of air in it so that it looks flat when you see it on the scoot. But when you sit on it the air molds to your contours and gives just the support you need without added heat. I find the sheepskin makes me sweat if it is hot and humid, aka Texas. Plus it adds more bulk than I care for.
