I was due to be born in the second week of January 1970. I was born in Washington DC and my father worked for the IRS at the time. The bastard got my mother to have labor induced so I was born on December 30, 1969 & he could write me off on that years taxes.. To this day I blame my 26" inseam and stumpy arms on that.

It wasn't. The mind numbing dullness was the worst part. |

And in a moment speaking volumes to both this era and my own shallowness, I confirmed it was really her by Googling "alanis morrisette kauai" when I got back to our condo. So, there: I am surprisingly shallow. |

Sadly, inspite of our best efforts working with animal behaviourists, vet and others we could not stop our cat from.attacking us. After 2 other admissions to hospital after yet again being attacked we had to have him put to sleep. Very sad.

I'm a member of the International Mensa.
A fact I don't typically publish, because it easily leads to wrong conclusions - mainly because not many really knows what the heck Mensa is actually about. In a nutshell it's about having way above average abilities in a very narrow area. These abilities are about being good in understanding complex causal relations and having good spatial perception capabilities. And that's it. It does not mean anything else or give any indication on other skills or capabilities. For example, I'm a way below awerage, truly lousy chess player. That's because although I do benefit from the ability to "see the board" and possible movements easily, I have very bad memory skills - which are required to be a good player. I'm a very inactive member, but like the tiny bit of good this organization does mainly to support education. And I truly dislike the few, luckily minority that try to make Mensa membership something else than it is. |

I recently had a work event where I was asked to submit a surprising thing about myself for an intro icebreaker. I used the fact that I ride a scooter to work every day. I suppose that doesn't pass for surprising here?

We each should have something of a "hobby" or passion that's a bit off what most people consider "fun". It's what makes us all unique. Riding a scooter is fun, but very mainstream. Me? I spend at least one evening a week umpiring youth baseball (ages 9-12). Usually in our town it's a job for high school kids, but I'm just having so much fun. I even got the whole umpire uniform this year (pants, belt, ball bag and all). I'm in my 8th season. |

Riding 1022 miles in 22 hours isn't that difficult because it doesn't involve riding that quickly but as a place to start it's not bad.
However if you'd like to try 1200 miles in less time you're very welcome. Maybe 2162 miles in 53 hours when you're done with that ? It's OK Ashbrook, I get it. I'm beginning to think I must qualify as "The most Boring Person Who Ever Lived".
Well one thing I can say that I don't think too many here can say, I have met Judy! One somewhat funny thing about the day I met Judy is while walking around the Aloha tower in Honolulu while talking to Judy on cell phone trying to figure out where she was parked. My wife was flapping her arms at me and I kept motioning to her "NOT NOW!" As it happens the reason wife was trying to get my attention was the fenced off area I was walking into was fenced off because of the Chinese Navy ship moored a few feet away. have to wonder if my picture is now on file in some office in Peking! Just got me to thinking maybe that is why this Chinese ship was parked next to our cruise ship a few days latter in Tahiti:

I am half Japanese, half Mexican-American. My mom only spoke Japanese, so that's what my sisters and I spoke until kindergarten. My dad speaks Spanish, Japanese, and, of course, English.
Dad loved to joke that being Mexican/Japanese meant that I'd be good at stealing cars, but bad at driving them. I'm not sure that Asians being bad drivers is a valid stereotype anymore, though... There are dozens of us. DOZENS!
