30seconds earlier I would have been reading that while sipping my coffee and then spewing it all over my tablet. Whew! That was close.

I was a reporter in Central America briefly in the 1980s sent to report on a peace agreement in El Salvador where civil war killed tens of thousands. The agreement failed and I was stuck in an extremely disagreeable place. I was inexperienced and brash or stupid. I witnessed an attempt on Bianca Jagger's life which turned out to be firecrackers. I drove along mined roads with a crazy American missionary ("God will protect us!") and was at the main airport waiting to leave (yes!) when guerillas attacked and blew up the power plant. I also met and annoyed the head of the death squads Roberto D'Aubisson and after that my naive belief that evil didn't really exist was wiped away. He scared me rigid in a country that was going violently insane around me. I was shot at and found no exhilaration in that they missed and I did not enjoy the camaraderie of the war correspondents. The pros seemed barking mad to me and I found myself drinking far more than I should. I was glad to leave. Never again.

During my sophomore or junior year of High School, a buddy of mine set me up on a blind date, it turned out to be Billy Joel's baby sister.

I saw Ann Margret's underpants in Vietnam.
Her Huey flight-out was weathered in at our evac hospital for several hours. She was in the mess tent, trying to sit down in a micro-mini skirt.

It was only 3/10ths of a second.
And it may not have been Ann Margret....but it dam sure was underpants! That's the main thing.
Like yesterday.....pale yellow!
