A nice winter's day in Auckland today. I fitted some new Pirelli Angel tyres and needed to test them out, very happy with the result. New tyres always feel great.

It's just water spots. And they were remedied shortly after arriving home.

At the cafe in Deadwood this morning, solving the world's problems with the usual bunch of old motorcycle bums....

That's 'Mike'. He's a Navy veteran from the Vietnam war.

He's around 70, and rides a 2013 Kawasaki ZX14R that he's had since new, it's pushing about 50,000 miles now. He was a dealership Kawasaki mechanic for decades after his military service.

He recently also bought a Concourse 1400 for longer trips because he thinks he's getting too old and stiff to run long distances on his ZX14R.

That's his ZX14 in my photo, next to my Vespa...

Not exactly a common combination one would expect to see in western South Dakota...

But still a doubly delightful photo!

A couple of the old motorcycle bums that I usually hang with on my early morning coffee runs.

Although I often 'Preach the Vespa Gospel' to them, they have yet to express any interest in forsaking their two-wheeled behemoths for the more subtle pleasures of the little Italian 'wonder bike'.

Oh, well.....their loss!

The 1967 Citroen has been for sale since last year, I'd love to own it, though it's meager power output would be something of a 'challenge' with our hilly geography around here, but it's rarity in this area alone would make it a fun thing to putt around in.

I also acknowledge that the French 2CV has quite a history, and is, by our standards (USA) a fascinatingly quirky little car that would be a hoot to own and drive.

I just realized you meant the 2CV and Vespa, and not Alvin/Simon/Theodore.

I've had less ominous commutes.

I had a great ride this morning, left the house at around 5:30 AM, rode around 100 miles, took lot of oddball photos of things along the way. Made it back home around noon.
